CD Femarguin Women secured a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Pozuelo Alarcon Women in the Spanish Primera Federación on Saturday night, thanks to a second-half goal that settled a tense, tactical contest. The win lifts the Canary Islands side up the table and leaves the hosts still searching for consistency.

Match Overview

Played at Pozuelo Alarcon's home ground, the match was a classic case of possession versus resilience. Pozuelo saw more of the ball, particularly in the first half, but struggled to break down a well-organized Femarguin defense. The visitors, happy to sit deep and counter, grew into the game and found the decisive moment after the break.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute: Pozuelo's best chance of the first half fell to their striker, but a last-ditch block denied her.
• 45th minute: Femarguin's goalkeeper made a superb save to keep the score level at the break.
• 58th minute: The only goal arrived when a quick counter ended with a low shot into the bottom corner.
• 79th minute: Pozuelo pushed forward and struck the crossbar from a free-kick.
• 90+2nd minute: Femarguin cleared a corner off the line to preserve the win.

Tactical Story

Pozuelo Alarcon Women lined up in a 4-2-3-1, aiming to dominate midfield and create chances through the middle. However, Femarguin's compact 4-4-2 defensive block frustrated them. The visitors' back line stayed disciplined, and their midfielders tracked runners diligently.

The game's turning point came when Femarguin switched to a more direct approach, launching quick counterattacks. That strategy paid off with the winning goal. Pozuelo's manager will be frustrated by his team's lack of cutting edge, while Femarguin's coach will be delighted with the defensive resolve.

Standout Players

• Femarguin's goalkeeper: Made two crucial saves, including a first-half stop that kept the score 0-0.
• The goalscorer (Femarguin): Took her chance brilliantly on the counter.
• Pozuelo's central defender: Was solid for most of the game but could not prevent the decisive goal.

Table and Season Impact

The three points are vital for CD Femarguin Women, who move into a more promising position in the Primera Federación standings. For Pozuelo Alarcon Women, it is a missed opportunity to climb the table, and they remain in the lower half. With the season still young, both sides have plenty of time to shape their campaigns, but this result highlights the fine margins in Spain's second tier of women's football.

Femarguin will take confidence from a first away win of the season, while Pozuelo must find a way to turn possession into goals. The next few matches will be crucial for both teams.
