GKS Katowice Women booked their place in the next stage of the Poland Women's Cup with a convincing 6-1 victory over Polonia Środa Wielkopolska (W) on 26 October 2026. The senior side from Katowice controlled the tie and delivered a professional away performance.

Katowice take control

GKS Katowice Women started strongly, pressing Polonia Środa Wielkopolska (W) and forcing the hosts into early mistakes. Katowice moved the ball with purpose and created the first clear chances of the match, taking the lead and then doubling their advantage as Polonia struggled to contain their attacking runs.

Polonia Środa Wielkopolska (W) worked hard to stay in the contest and had spells of possession, but they were unable to turn that into consistent pressure. Katowice’s defensive line held firm and their midfield won the majority of duels, allowing them to control the rhythm of the game.

Polonia’s response and Katowice’s answer

Polonia Środa Wielkopolska (W) managed to score a consolation goal, which gave their supporters something to cheer. For a brief period, the hosts looked more confident and pushed players forward in search of another goal.

However, GKS Katowice Women responded with authority. They restored their multi-goal cushion and then pulled away in the second half, scoring further goals as spaces opened up. Their finishing was sharp and their attacking transitions were too quick for Polonia to handle.

Tactical story and standout performers

Katowice’s strength lay in their balance between control and directness. They were patient in possession when needed but also capable of switching play quickly and attacking the box with numbers. Their midfielders dictated the tempo, while the forward line made the most of the chances created.

Polonia Środa Wielkopolska (W) showed fighting spirit and kept going until the end, but the difference in efficiency in front of goal was decisive. The hosts will need to tighten their defensive shape and improve their decision-making in transition.

Poland Women's Cup outlook

The 6-1 win sends GKS Katowice Women into the next round with confidence and a clear statement of intent. A strong cup run can build momentum for the rest of the season, and this performance will give the squad belief.

For Polonia Środa Wielkopolska (W), the cup exit is disappointing, but the match offers lessons about competing against a well-organised senior opponent. The focus now turns to recovering and responding in their next fixture.
