VSG Altglienicke produced a convincing attacking display to beat FSV Luckenwalde 3-1 in the German Regionalliga, with two first-half goals laying the foundation for a deserved home victory. The Berlin side controlled large periods of the contest and added a late third to seal the points after Luckenwalde had briefly threatened a comeback.

Match overview

Altglienicke began with intensity, pressing Luckenwalde’s back line and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The opening goal arrived inside the first twenty minutes when a quick exchange on the right flank opened space for a low cross, which was converted at the near post. The home side doubled their lead before half-time with a well-worked move through central midfield, leaving Luckenwalde with a mountain to climb.

Luckenwalde improved after the break and pulled one back with a header from a set piece, but Altglienicke managed the game well and restored their two-goal cushion in the closing stages.

Key moments

• 14th minute: Altglienicke opened the scoring with a close-range finish after a flowing right-sided attack.
• 39th minute: A neat one-two in midfield released the second goal, giving the home side a comfortable half-time lead.
• 58th minute: Luckenwalde halved the deficit with a powerful header from a corner.
• 76th minute: Altglienicke’s goalkeeper made a crucial save to preserve the lead.
• 88th minute: The third goal arrived on the counter, sealing the victory.

Tactical story

VSG Altglienicke’s success came from aggressive pressing and quick transitions. Their wide players stretched Luckenwalde’s defence, while the midfield duo won most of the second balls. Luckenwalde’s best spell came early in the second half when they increased their tempo and used set pieces to create danger, but they could not sustain the pressure.

Altglienicke’s decision to drop slightly deeper after their second goal allowed them to protect the lead and hit space on the counter. The third goal was a perfect example of that approach, with a swift break finished calmly.

Standout players

Altglienicke’s right winger was a constant threat, contributing to the first goal and stretching the defence throughout. The central midfielder dictated the tempo and provided the assist for the second. For Luckenwalde, the goalscorer and goalkeeper were among the few to emerge with credit, but the team’s defensive errors proved costly.

Season impact

The three points strengthen Altglienicke’s position in the Regionalliga table and underline their promotion credentials. Luckenwalde, meanwhile, remain inconsistent and will need to cut out the defensive mistakes that allowed Altglienicke to take control. The result adds another important home win to the Berlin side’s season.
