Stuttgarter Kickers 3-1 TSV Steinbach Haiger — Stuttgarter Kickers secured a deserved 3-1 home victory over TSV Steinbach Haiger in the Regionalliga Südwest, with a strong second-half performance deciding a competitive contest. The hosts led early, were pegged back before half-time, but retook the lead after the break and added a late third to seal the points.

Match overview

The Kickers began with width and purpose, stretching Steinbach’s defence and creating the opening goal inside the first ten minutes. Steinbach responded well and equalised before the interval, punishing a rare lapse in concentration. The second half was a different story: the Kickers raised the tempo, won more duels in midfield and created a steady flow of chances. They retook the lead just after the hour and made the result safe with a late third.

Key moments

• 9th minute: Stuttgarter Kickers opened the scoring with a neat finish after a wide overload.
• 42nd minute: Steinbach equalised from a set-piece, heading home at the far post.
• 61st minute: The Kickers restored their lead with a composed finish inside the box.
• 88th minute: A late counter-attack produced the third goal and confirmed the win.

Tactical story

The Kickers used their wide players aggressively, creating two-on-one situations and delivering early crosses into the box. That approach forced Steinbach to defend deep for long spells. After the break, the hosts also tightened their midfield, reducing the space Steinbach had used to build attacks in the first half. Steinbach remained compact but struggled to cope with the Kickers’ movement and width as the game wore on.

Standout players

The Kickers’ left winger was a constant threat, involved in the opening goal and repeatedly beating his marker. Their central midfielder controlled the tempo and linked play intelligently, while the striker’s movement created space for others. Steinbach’s goalkeeper made several saves to keep the visitors in the game, but the away side could not hold out under sustained pressure.

Season impact

The win strengthens the Kickers’ home record and gives them valuable momentum in the Regionalliga Südwest campaign. Scoring three goals will boost confidence, though the coaching staff will still want to address the set-piece concession. For Steinbach, the defeat highlights the need for greater defensive resilience, particularly when defending wide areas and crosses.
