SSV Ulm 1846 1-1 FC 08 Homburg ended all square in the German Regionalliga on 25 October 2026, with both sides taking a point from a balanced contest. Ulm and Homburg traded goals in a match that had spells of pressure at both ends but no final winner.

Match overview

SSV Ulm 1846 began the game with purpose, using their home crowd to drive them forward. Their early dominance was rewarded with the opening goal, and for a period they looked capable of adding a second. FC 08 Homburg, however, stayed in the contest and gradually found their rhythm.

The equaliser arrived as Homburg grew in confidence, and the second half became a more even battle. Both teams had chances to take the lead, but a combination of good goalkeeping and wasteful finishing kept the score at 1-1.

Key moments

• Ulm’s opener: The hosts took the lead after a sustained attacking phase, finishing from close range.
• Homburg’s response: The visitors equalised before the break, capitalising on a defensive lapse and finishing with composure.
• Second-half chances: Both sides created openings, but neither could find the decisive goal.

Tactical story

Ulm looked to control possession and attack through the flanks, while Homburg were happy to defend in a mid-block and hit on the counter. The visitors’ equaliser came from exactly that approach, as they forced a turnover and moved the ball quickly into the final third. After the break, Homburg sat slightly deeper, inviting Ulm forward and looking to exploit the space left behind.

Ulm’s midfield worked hard to sustain pressure, but their final ball was inconsistent. Homburg, meanwhile, defended resolutely and were dangerous from set pieces. The draw was a fair outcome in a game where both teams had periods of control.

Standout performers

Ulm’s goalkeeper made two important saves in the second half to preserve a point, while the defence recovered well after a shaky spell around the equaliser. Homburg’s midfield was effective in transition, and their goalscorer showed good movement to find space in the box. Both captains led by example in a competitive Regionalliga fixture.

Table impact

The point keeps SSV Ulm 1846 and FC 08 Homburg in the thick of the German Regionalliga standings, though both will feel they could have pushed for a winner. Ulm will be disappointed not to have converted their early control into three points, while Homburg will take encouragement from an away performance built on resilience. The head-to-head record remains tight, and the return meeting later in the season could be equally important in the race for position.

A 1-1 draw can sometimes feel like a missed opportunity, but this was a competitive showing from both sides. Ulm’s early promise and Homburg’s response made for an engaging contest, and the point reflects the balance between the two teams.
