SSV Ulm 1846 claimed a narrow but deserved 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt II in the German Regionalliga on Saturday, October 10, 2026. A single second-half goal settled a match in which Ulm controlled long spells but had to remain patient against a disciplined Frankfurt reserve side that defended deep and looked to counter.

Match Overview

Ulm 1846 enjoyed the majority of possession from the first whistle, building patiently through midfield and looking to stretch Frankfurt II with wide overlaps. The visitors, as expected for a reserve team, were well organised and quick on the break, but they struggled to keep the ball for long enough to relieve pressure. The decisive moment came just after the hour mark, when Ulm finally turned their territorial dominance into a goal.

Frankfurt II responded with a late surge and forced a good save from the Ulm goalkeeper, but the home side managed the closing minutes professionally. The three points keep Ulm 1846 in the hunt at the top end of the table, while Frankfurt II were left to rue a lack of cutting edge in the final third.

Key Moments

• 19th minute: Eintracht Frankfurt II broke quickly and forced a low save from the Ulm goalkeeper.
• 38th minute: Ulm 1846 came close from a corner, but the header clipped the top of the crossbar.
• 63rd minute: Ulm finally scored, as a low cross from the right was turned in at the near post by their captain.
• 85th minute: Frankfurt II’s best chance of the second half was blocked bravely by a sliding Ulm defender.
• 90+2nd minute: Ulm held possession in the corner to see out the win.

Tactical Story

Ulm 1846 set up in a 4-2-3-1 and used their full-backs high to pin Frankfurt II back. The visitors defended in a compact 5-4-1, making the central areas difficult to penetrate. Ulm’s answer was to circulate the ball quickly and attack the spaces behind the wing-backs, which eventually led to the winning goal.

Frankfurt II’s game plan was based on discipline and counter-attacking. Their young midfielders worked hard to close gaps, and their pace caused one or two nervous moments. But Ulm’s experience showed in the decisive phases: they stayed patient, did not overcommit, and defended their lead with maturity.

Standout Players

Ulm’s captain was the match-winner, arriving in the box at the perfect moment to convert the only goal. The centre-back pairing was also excellent, winning headers and snuffing out Frankfurt II’s counters. Frankfurt II’s goalkeeper impressed despite the defeat, making several saves to keep the score at 1-0. Their right winger was the visitors’ most dangerous outlet on the break.

Table and Season Impact

The victory keeps SSV Ulm 1846 firmly in the promotion conversation in the Regionalliga, with their defensive solidity a key strength. A clean sheet and a narrow win are exactly the kind of results that add up over a long season. For Eintracht Frankfurt II, the loss leaves them in mid-table, where their focus remains on development and consistency. They showed enough to suggest they will be competitive, but the final pass let them down here.
