Kickers Offenbach 1-3 VfR Aalen — VfR Aalen secured an impressive 3-1 away victory over Kickers Offenbach in the German Regionalliga on 26 September 2026. A disciplined defensive display and clinical counter-attacking earned Aalen all three points at one of the league's most traditional venues.

Match overview

Kickers Offenbach began with plenty of possession and tried to impose themselves through quick passing in midfield. Aalen, however, looked dangerous whenever they won the ball back and took the lead with their first clear chance. Offenbach equalized before half-time, but Aalen raised their level after the break, scoring twice to take control of the match. The visitors managed the closing stages professionally and limited Offenbach to hopeful crosses and long-range efforts.

Key moments

• 11' — VfR Aalen opened the scoring through Kevin Hoffmann, who finished a fast break.
• 27' — Kickers Offenbach levelled when Marvin Braun converted from the edge of the area.
• 58' — Daniel Weiss restored Aalen's lead with a precise low shot after a neat exchange.
• 79' — Hoffmann scored his second, sealing the 3-1 win on the counter.

Tactical story

Offenbach set up in a 4-2-3-1 and tried to dominate the ball, but their build-up became predictable as Aalen's midfield dropped into a compact 4-4-2 block. Aalen's front two worked tirelessly to cut off passes into central midfield, forcing Offenbach wide. Once Aalen won possession, they attacked vertically and with purpose. Offenbach's full-backs pushed high in search of an equalizer, which left space behind for Aalen's decisive late goal.

Standout players

Hoffmann was the match-winner for Aalen with two well-taken goals, and Weiss controlled the tempo in midfield. Aalen's goalkeeper made two important saves at 1-1, keeping the visitors level before their second-half surge. For Offenbach, Braun was their most inventive player and took his goal well, but the home side lacked a consistent finishing touch in the final 20 minutes.

What it means

VfR Aalen's victory strengthens their position in the German Regionalliga and underlines their ability to win away against historically strong clubs. Kickers Offenbach suffer a setback in their pursuit of a higher league position, and the defeat will raise questions about their defensive transitions. The result also improves Aalen's head-to-head record against Offenbach and gives them confidence for the next round of Regionalliga fixtures.
