Kickers Offenbach and FC 08 Homburg played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the German Regionalliga Südwest on October 10, 2026, at the Stadion am Bieberer Berg. A dramatic late equalizer from the visitors denied Offenbach all three points in a match that swung both ways and showcased the attacking quality of both sides.

Match Overview

Offenbach started brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute when a quick exchange of passes opened up the Homburg defence, allowing the striker to slot home from close range. The home crowd barely had time to settle before Homburg responded, equalizing ten minutes later with a powerful header from a corner. The game then became a tense midfield battle, with both teams creating half-chances but failing to find a cutting edge before the break.

Early in the second half, Offenbach regained the lead through a superb individual goal—a curling effort from the left side of the box that found the far corner. They looked to be heading for victory, but Homburg pushed forward in the final 15 minutes and were rewarded in the 88th minute when a low cross was turned in at the back post, sending the away fans into raptures.

Key Moments

• 18' – 1-0: Offenbach take the lead with a neat passing move finished from close range.
• 28' – 1-1: Homburg equalize with a thumping header from a corner.
• 54' – 2-1: Offenbach restore their advantage with a beautiful curling strike.
• 88' – 2-2: Homburg snatch a late equalizer with a back-post tap-in.

Tactical Story

Offenbach employed a 4-3-3 formation, looking to dominate possession and attack through the wide areas. Their full-backs pushed high, creating overloads, but this left them vulnerable to Homburg's counter-attacks. Homburg, meanwhile, set up in a 4-4-2 and focused on hitting long balls into the channels for their quick forwards. The tactical battle was evenly matched, with Offenbach controlling the ball but Homburg looking dangerous every time they broke forward. The late goal came from exactly that kind of transition, catching Offenbach's defence out of position.

Standout Players

Offenbach's playmaker Lukas Becker was at the heart of most of his team's best moments, providing the assist for the first goal and dictating the tempo. The striker who scored the second, Jonas Hartmann, was a constant threat with his movement. For Homburg, Nico Schreiber was immense in midfield, breaking up play and driving forward, while the goalscorer of the late equalizer, Tim Wagner, showed great poaching instincts to be in the right place at the right time.

League Impact

The draw leaves both teams in mid-table, with Offenbach ruing two dropped points at home and Homburg celebrating a hard-earned away point. In the tight Regionalliga Südwest, such margins can define a season. Offenbach will need to improve their game management if they are to challenge for promotion, while Homburg can take confidence from their resilience. The result keeps the promotion race and the relegation battle equally tight, with little separating the teams in the standings.
