Weiche Flensburg Cruise to 3-0 Win Over Drochtersen/Assel in Regionalliga

ETSV Weiche Flensburg produced a dominant home performance in the German Regionalliga on October 17, 2026, defeating SV Drochtersen/Assel 3-0. The hosts controlled the match from start to finish, scoring at key moments and never allowing their opponents to build sustained momentum.

The victory was built on aggressive pressing, quick ball movement, and a clinical edge in front of goal. Drochtersen/Assel arrived with hopes of making the contest difficult, but they were undone by an early goal and then forced to chase the game against a well-drilled Weiche side.

Match Overview

Weiche Flensburg took the lead in the 9th minute when Lasse Petersen latched onto a loose ball in the box and finished low into the corner. The early goal settled the hosts and allowed them to dictate the tempo. Drochtersen/Assel tried to respond through long balls and set pieces, but Weiche’s defenders dealt with the threat comfortably.

The second goal arrived in the 38th minute. Nico Empen rose above his marker to head home a corner, doubling the lead and giving the home side a comfortable cushion at half-time. Any hopes of a Drochtersen comeback were effectively ended in the 67th minute when Morten Rüdiger finished a fast counterattack, making it 3-0.

Key Moments

• 9th minute: Lasse Petersen opens the scoring with a low finish inside the box.
• 38th minute: Nico Empen heads in from a corner to make it 2-0.
• 67th minute: Morten Rüdiger seals the win with a composed counterattacking goal.
• 85th minute: Weiche keep a clean sheet with a late defensive block.

Tactical Story

Weiche Flensburg set up in a 4-3-3 and pressed high from the opening whistle. Their front three cut off passing lanes to the full-backs, while the midfield won most of the second balls. That pressure forced Drochtersen/Assel into hurried clearances and gave Weiche repeated opportunities to attack from advanced positions.

Drochtersen/Assel lined up in a 4-4-2 but struggled to maintain possession. Their two strikers were isolated for much of the match, and the wide midfielders dropped too deep to support attacks. When they did win the ball, they were often immediately closed down by Weiche’s midfield unit. The hosts also looked dangerous from set pieces, with Empen’s height proving a major problem.

Standout Players

Lasse Petersen set the tone with the early goal and was a constant threat with his movement. Nico Empen was dominant in the air and scored the crucial second goal. Morten Rüdiger added energy and directness, capped by his well-taken third goal. For Drochtersen/Assel, their goalkeeper made several saves to prevent a heavier defeat, and their central defender worked hard under constant pressure.

Season Impact

The 3-0 win is a significant result for Weiche Flensburg in the German Regionalliga, boosting their goal difference and reinforcing their home form. In a league where consistency is often the difference between title contention and mid-table, this was exactly the kind of controlled performance teams need. Drochtersen/Assel will need to regroup quickly, particularly in defensive transitions and set-piece defending, as they look to climb the standings.
