Eintracht Frankfurt II edged past TSV Steinbach Haiger 1-0 in the German Regionalliga on September 19, 2026, thanks to a first-half goal at the Frankfurter Volksbank Stadion. The young Frankfurt reserve side produced a mature, disciplined performance to see off one of the league’s more experienced teams. The three points lift them further up the table and continue their impressive run of form.

Match Overview

Eintracht Frankfurt II started brightly, pressing high and forcing Steinbach Haiger into early mistakes. The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when a quick turnover in midfield led to a precise through-ball and a composed finish past the goalkeeper. Steinbach, who had won their previous two matches, struggled to find rhythm against Frankfurt’s energetic midfield. The visitors improved after the break and pushed for an equaliser, but Frankfurt’s defence held firm, with the goalkeeper making a crucial save in the 75th minute.

Key Moments

• 28th minute: The only goal – a fast break finished with a low shot into the far corner.
• 45+2nd minute: Steinbach’s best chance of the first half, a header from a free-kick that went narrowly wide.
• 75th minute: A stunning one-handed save from the Frankfurt goalkeeper denied Steinbach an equaliser.
• 90th minute: Frankfurt almost doubled their lead on the counter, but the shot hit the side-netting.

Tactical Story

Frankfurt II lined up in a 4-3-3, with their young midfield trio pressing aggressively and dictating the pace. Steinbach Haiger, using a 4-2-3-1, tried to play through the lines but were often forced into long balls. Frankfurt’s back four, well-organised and disciplined, dealt with the aerial threat comfortably. The home side’s willingness to run and press for the full 90 minutes was the difference. Steinbach’s manager made attacking changes in the second half, but Frankfurt’s compact shape and quick counter-attacks kept them at bay.

Standout Players

The Frankfurt goalkeeper was the hero, making four saves, including the crucial one in the second half. The goalscorer, a 19-year-old academy prospect, showed great maturity with his finish and linked play well throughout. In defence, the Frankfurt captain led by example, winning every duel and organising the back line. For Steinbach, their central midfielder was their best player, constantly demanding the ball and trying to drive his team forward, but he lacked support.

Table Impact and What’s Next

With this win, Eintracht Frankfurt II climb into the top half of the German Regionalliga standings, now just three points off the promotion play-off spots. TSV Steinbach Haiger remain in contention but will be disappointed to have lost ground on the leaders. Next weekend, Frankfurt II face a tricky away game against a mid-table side, while Steinbach host a relegation-threatened team looking to bounce back. The head-to-head record between these clubs is now finely balanced, and this narrow win could be a significant moment in Frankfurt’s season.
