Ocelotes UNACH Cruise Past Lobos de Ensenada 82-66 in CIBACOPA Clash

Ocelotes UNACH produced a commanding performance on September 20, 2026, defeating Lobos de Ensenada 82-66 in a CIBACOPA matchup that showcased the home side's offensive balance and defensive intensity. The 16-point victory was built on a strong start and a decisive second-half run, giving Ocelotes UNACH an important result in front of their home supporters.

Match Overview

Ocelotes UNACH came out with purpose, moving the ball crisply and finding high-percentage shots early. Lobos de Ensenada kept the game competitive through the first half, leaning on their perimeter shooting and transition opportunities, but the hosts gradually imposed their will on both ends of the floor. By the time the final quarter arrived, UNACH had built a lead that they protected with composure and discipline.

The 82-66 scoreline underlined the hosts' control of the contest. Ocelotes UNACH maintained a double-digit cushion through much of the second half, never allowing Lobos de Ensenada to mount a sustained comeback.

Key Moments

• Strong opening quarter: Ocelotes UNACH set the tone with an efficient offensive start, knocking down open looks and forcing Ensenada into early adjustments.
• Second-quarter battle: Lobos de Ensenada briefly cut into the deficit with a run of their own, only for UNACH to answer before halftime.
• Third-quarter separation: The decisive stretch came after the break, when Ocelotes UNACH rattled off a series of stops and converted them into quick points at the other end.
• Fourth-quarter closure: With the lead secure, UNACH managed the clock effectively, relying on free throws and smart possessions to seal the win.

Tactical Story

Ocelotes UNACH's success stemmed from their ability to balance inside scoring with perimeter shooting. Their offense moved through the post when matchups allowed, then kicked the ball out to shooters when Ensenada collapsed on the interior. That inside-out approach kept the Lobos' defense guessing and opened up driving lanes throughout the evening.

Defensively, UNACH prioritized limiting Ensenada's transition game. Lobos de Ensenada are at their best when they can push the pace and score before the defense sets, so the hosts focused on getting back quickly and forcing half-court possessions. That discipline paid off, as Ensenada's offense slowed considerably in the second half.

Lobos de Ensenada showed flashes of quality, particularly when their guards attacked off the dribble and drew help defenders. However, inconsistent shooting and a handful of untimely turnovers prevented them from building any real momentum. Rebounding also proved difficult against a physical UNACH frontcourt that controlled the glass on both ends.

Standout Performers

Ocelotes UNACH's scoring was spread across the roster, a hallmark of their team-first approach. Guards dictated tempo and distributed the ball effectively, while the frontcourt provided steady production in the paint. Defensively, UNACH's collective effort stood out, with multiple players contributing deflections, rebounds, and contested shots that disrupted Ensenada's rhythm.

For Lobos de Ensenada, the effort was there, but the execution fell short in key moments. A few players delivered solid individual performances, but the visitors could not sustain their best stretches long enough to seriously threaten the lead.

Season Impact

This victory bolsters Ocelotes UNACH's standing in the CIBACOPA table and adds valuable point differential to their season record. Winning home games convincingly is crucial in a competitive league where playoff positioning often comes down to fine margins, and this performance fits that objective perfectly.

Lobos de Ensenada, meanwhile, will view this as a missed opportunity on the road. The team has shown it can compete, but consistency on both ends of the floor remains the challenge as the season progresses.
