Ocelotes UNACH 73-87 Guaycuras de la Paz — the Guaycuras produced one of the more complete road performances of their CIBACOPA season, beating the Ocelotes UNACH by 14 points on September 26, 2026. The visitors controlled the game from the second quarter onward, using balanced scoring and disciplined defense to hand the Ocelotes a home defeat.

Match Overview

Guaycuras de la Paz never trailed after the middle of the second quarter. Their offense spread the floor effectively, creating driving lanes and open corner threes, while their defense limited UNACH's most productive scorers to difficult attempts. The Ocelotes stayed within range early but were gradually worn down as the visitors extended their lead in the second half.

How the Game Unfolded

The first quarter was competitive, with both teams trading baskets and the Guaycuras taking a 22-19 lead into the break between periods. The tone shifted in the second, when La Paz tightened its half-court defense and converted several UNACH turnovers into transition points. A 24-20 quarter gave the visitors a 46-39 halftime advantage and, just as importantly, put the pressure squarely on the home side.

The third quarter sealed the outcome. Guaycuras came out of the locker room with the same intensity, moving the ball through multiple defenders and generating high-percentage looks at the rim. UNACH's offense, meanwhile, became increasingly reliant on contested individual shots. A 21-17 third quarter pushed the lead to eleven heading into the final period, and La Paz closed the game out comfortably at the free-throw line.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter separation: A defensive run turned a tight game into a seven-point halftime lead for the Guaycuras.
• Third-quarter execution: La Paz opened the half with crisp ball movement and never let the Ocelotes back within striking distance.
• Fourth-quarter free throws: The Guaycuras iced the game from the line, denying UNACH any chance at a late comeback.

Tactical Story

The Guaycuras won this game with pace control. They attacked early in the shot clock when the opportunity was there, but were equally comfortable working the ball for 20 seconds when UNACH's defense was set. That patience produced better shots than the Ocelotes managed. Defensively, La Paz prioritized stopping dribble penetration and forced UNACH into contested perimeter attempts, which explains the hosts' sub-75 output. Guaycuras also won the rebounding battle, limiting second-chance points and ensuring that their offensive efficiency was not undone at the other end.

Standout Performers

La Paz's guards dictated the game on both ends, scoring in transition and creating open looks for their teammates in the half-court. Their forwards did the dirty work on the boards and switched effectively on screens, which disrupted the Ocelotes' preferred actions. For UNACH, the effort was there — the team competed on the glass and generated several impressive individual plays — but the supporting cast struggled to convert when the Guaycuras' defense loaded up on the primary scorers.

Season Impact

A road win of this magnitude is valuable in CIBACOPA, where home courts are traditionally difficult places to win. The Guaycuras add a quality result to their record and demonstrate the kind of two-way consistency that translates into playoff success. For the Ocelotes UNACH, the loss highlights the need for more balanced scoring and better ball security against aggressive perimeter defenses. With the season still unfolding, both teams will look to build on the lessons from this 87-73 result.
