Bulgaria U23 Women Cruise Past Kenya in Four Straight Sets

Bulgaria U23 Women opened their account at the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U23 World Championship with a composed 4-0 victory over Kenya U23 Women. The match, played in Ljubljana on September 11, saw Bulgaria control the net from start to finish.

Kenya tried to counter through their mobile outside hitters, but Bulgaria’s middle blockers were an immovable presence, repeatedly rejecting Kenyan attacks and scoring cleanly off the one-two combination. The Bulgarian serving unit also created constant problems, keeping Kenya’s offense out of system for most of the encounter.

Kenya’s Fighting Spirit

Despite the scoreline, Kenya showed stretches of competitive play, especially in the second and third sets, when their defense stiffened and forced Bulgaria into longer rallies. However, unforced errors and a lack of experience in closing tight sets allowed Bulgaria to maintain control and pull away.
