Barnaul survived a five-set marathon against Tekstilshchik in the Vysshaya Liga A on October 24, 2026, clinching a 3-2 victory after a tense tie-break. The home side took the match 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-12 in a contest that swung repeatedly and kept both benches on edge until the final point.

Match Overview

Barnaul started brightly, taking the opening set 25-22 behind efficient attacking from the wings and a solid block. Tekstilshchik responded in the second, tightening their reception and finding gaps in Barnaul’s defense to level the match with a 25-23 win. The third set belonged to the hosts again, as Barnaul’s serve pressure created free points and a 25-20 advantage. Tekstilshchik refused to fade, forcing a decider with a 25-21 fourth-set win before Barnaul edged the tie-break 15-12.

Key Moments

• First set, 22-22: Barnaul won three straight points, including a crucial block, to close out the opener.
• Second set, 23-23: Tekstilshchik held their nerve with two well-placed attacks to level the match.
• Fourth set, 18-18: Tekstilshchik pulled away with a 7-3 run, forcing a fifth set.
• Tie-break, 11-11: Barnaul’s captain delivered a service ace and a transition kill to create the decisive gap.

Tactical Story

The match was a battle of adjustments. Barnaul’s serve was most effective when directed at Tekstilshchik’s left-side passer, limiting the visitors’ ability to run their quick middle attack. Tekstilshchik countered by increasing their use of the back-row attack and forcing Barnaul’s block to move laterally. In the tie-break, Barnaul simplified their game: they fed their most reliable hitter in crucial moments and trusted their block to close the net.

Standout Performers

Barnaul’s middle blocker was instrumental in the victory, delivering timely blocks and efficient slide attacks. The home setter also deserves credit for keeping composure in the fifth set. For Tekstilshchik, the opposite hitter carried much of the offensive load and kept the visitors alive with powerful swings from the right side.

Season Impact

This five-set win is a significant result in the Vysshaya Liga A table, giving Barnaul two points for the victory while Tekstilshchik take a point from the loss. In a league where every set can matter, Barnaul’s ability to win a tight tie-break at home could prove valuable as the season progresses.
