The Volleyligaen fixture between Vestsjaelland and Middelfart on 24 October 2026 is recorded as a 0-0 no-result after the match was abandoned before the first serve. A lighting failure in the hall left officials with no option but to call the contest off, meaning neither side could add to their points tally.

Match overview

Both teams had completed their warm-ups and were preparing for the first serve when the problem became apparent. Officials inspected the court and determined that the lighting levels were below the required standard for a Volleyligaen match. With player safety the priority, the decision was taken to abandon the fixture, and the scoreboard remained at 0-0.

Why the match was stopped

The issue was not related to either team’s preparation or conduct. After a short discussion between the referees, venue staff and both coaches, it was agreed that the match could not proceed safely. Vestsjaelland’s home supporters, who had turned out for the evening fixture, were informed of the decision as the hall was made safe.

What it means for the Volleyligaen standings

No points are awarded for an abandoned fixture, so both Vestsjaelland and Middelfart remain where they were in the Volleyligaen table. A rearranged date is expected to be confirmed, with the match likely to be replayed in full. For now, the 0-0 scoreline stands as a rare no-result in a league where straight-sets and tie-break finishes usually dominate the headlines.

Players and storylines to watch

When the teams meet again, Vestsjaelland’s outside hitter Mikkel Sørensen will be central to their attacking plans, while Middelfart will look to setter Rasmus Nielsen to control the tempo. Both sides have shown enough in recent weeks to suggest the replay could be a competitive affair, and the tactical battle at the service line is likely to decide it.

Next steps

Vestsjaelland and Middelfart now turn their attention to their next scheduled fixtures while awaiting the league’s decision on a replay date. The abandoned match leaves a small gap in the standings, but both clubs will be eager to make up for lost time as the Volleyligaen season progresses.
