Roeselare delivered a statement performance in the Volley League, defeating Brabo Antwerp 3-0 on the road. The visitors combined powerful serving with a disciplined block to control the match from start to finish. The straight-sets win underlines Roeselare’s quality and leaves Brabo Antwerp reflecting on a difficult home night.

Match overview

Roeselare were the more complete team in every phase. They served with purpose, passed with composure, and attacked with enough variety to keep Antwerp’s block off balance. Antwerp had their moments, particularly when their outside hitters found space, but they could not match Roeselare’s consistency over three sets.

The match finished 3-0, with Roeselare taking the key points in each set. Antwerp stayed close early but were gradually worn down by the visitors’ pressure. The scoreline reflects Roeselare’s control, especially in the closing stages of the second and third sets.

Key moments

The first set set the tone. Antwerp led briefly at 9-7, but Roeselare responded with a run of strong serves and transition kills to move ahead. The visitors closed the set 25-20, having won the final five points. That late surge gave them confidence and forced Antwerp to chase the match.

The second set was the most competitive. Antwerp improved their block and stayed level until 22-22. At that stage, Roeselare’s experience showed. A sharp serve forced a poor reception, and two quick transition points gave the visitors the set 25-22. The third set was more one-sided, with Roeselare pulling away early and sealing it 25-19.

Tactical story

Roeselare’s serve-receive game was the difference. They targeted Antwerp’s outside hitters and often forced the home setter to play away from the middle. With Antwerp’s attack becoming predictable, Roeselare’s block could commit earlier and close the angles.

Antwerp tried to respond by increasing their service risk, but the trade-off was a series of errors at crucial moments. Roeselare’s setter managed the game intelligently, spreading the attack and using the middle to keep Antwerp’s blockers honest. Defensively, Roeselare were excellent in transition, turning several scramble plays into points.

Standout performers

Roeselare’s opposite led the scoring with a steady stream of points from the right side. The outside hitters also contributed in key moments, while the middle blockers made their presence felt with timely blocks. The libero was reliable in reception and aggressive in defence.

For Brabo Antwerp, the setter worked hard to create chances, but the team’s passing inconsistency limited options. The home middle blockers had flashes, especially in the second set, but Antwerp needed more from their wing attack to stay with Roeselare.

Season impact

The win is a significant confidence boost for Roeselare and reinforces their credentials as one of the Volley League’s leading teams. A 3-0 away victory against a competitive Antwerp side is the kind of result that can shape a season. It also gives Roeselare momentum heading into their next fixtures.

Brabo Antwerp will need to reset quickly. The home side showed fight in the second set but lacked the consistency to close it out. Improving their first-ball side-out and reducing service errors will be priorities before their next league match.
