Founding and Early Years

Brusque W was established in 2010 as part of a broader initiative to promote women's sports in the Itajaí Valley. The club quickly moved up the ranks of the Santa Catarina state championship, earning promotion to national competitions. By the mid-2010s, they had become a regular participant in the Superliga B Feminina, the second tier of Brazilian women's volleyball, and have since been knocking on the door of the elite Superliga A. Their home matches are played at the Ginásio Municipal de Brusque, a venue with a capacity of approximately 3,000 spectators that can become a cauldron of noise during important games.

Competitive Achievements

While Brusque W is still chasing its first national title, the club has enjoyed considerable success at the state level. They have won the Campeonato Catarinense Feminino multiple times, establishing themselves as the dominant force in Santa Catarina women's volleyball. In the Superliga B, they have reached the playoff semifinals in several seasons, narrowly missing out on promotion to the top flight. Their best campaign came in 2022, when they finished second in the regular season before falling in a hard-fought semifinal series.

• Campeonato Catarinense Feminino: 5 titles
• Superliga B Feminina: Semifinalists (2019, 2021, 2022)
• Jogos Abertos de Santa Catarina: Gold medal (2018)

Current Squad and Key Players

The team's roster is a mix of experienced veterans and promising young athletes. Outside hitter Ana Paula Silva is the offensive sparkplug, known for her powerful spikes and ability to score from the back row. Middle blocker Juliana Costa provides a strong presence at the net, leading the team in blocks. Setter Camila Rocha controls the tempo with intelligent distribution, while libero Larissa Souza anchors the defense with her exceptional digging and passing. The club also has a strong youth academy that has produced several players who have gone on to represent Brazil at the youth international level.

Recent Season and Promotion Ambitions

In the latest Superliga B season, Brusque W finished third in the regular season and advanced to the semifinals, where they were eliminated by the eventual champions. Despite the disappointment, the team showed significant progress, particularly in their defensive organization and serving pressure. The coaching staff has emphasized consistency and mental toughness, with the goal of securing promotion to the Superliga A within the next two years. To that end, the club has invested in sports science and player development, aiming to compete with the established powers of Brazilian women's volleyball.

Rivalries and Community Impact

Brusque W's main rivalry is with other teams from Santa Catarina, especially Blumenau and Joinville, matches that draw large crowds and are fiercely contested. The club is deeply embedded in the local community, running volleyball clinics and school programs that have helped popularize the sport among young girls. Their fanbase, known as "Torcida Azul," is famous for its organized cheering and colorful displays, creating an electric atmosphere at home games. As the team continues to grow, it remains a source of pride for the city of Brusque and a symbol of the rising standard of women's volleyball in southern Brazil.
