Politechnika Lublin produced a controlled 3-0 victory over Gdansk in the TAURON Liga, winning 25-19, 25-21, 25-18. The home side combined a strong serving performance with patient attacking to secure a straight-sets result and a full three points.

Match overview

Politechnika Lublin made the stronger start, using their serve to pressure Gdansk’s reception and create chances in transition. The first set remained competitive until the middle phase, when Lublin pulled away with a series of well-constructed attacks. Gdansk responded in the second set and briefly led, but Lublin’s block and defence held firm under pressure.

The third set was Lublin’s most complete. They jumped out to an early advantage and maintained a comfortable cushion throughout, never allowing Gdansk to string together enough points to threaten a comeback. The home crowd enjoyed a confident finish as Lublin closed out the match in straight sets.

Key moments

• Lublin broke a tight first set with a decisive serving run that forced Gdansk into two consecutive errors.
• Gdansk led in the second set, but Lublin responded with a 9-3 closing run to take full control of the match.
• An early 11-4 lead in the third set effectively ended Gdansk’s resistance.
• Lublin finished the match with a strong block, capping a disciplined defensive display.

Tactical story

Lublin’s victory was founded on serve-receive superiority. Their servers consistently targeted Gdansk’s wings, reducing the visitors’ options in attack and allowing Lublin’s block to set up more effectively. Gdansk found some success when they managed to get their middle involved, but those moments were too infrequent. Lublin’s setter also deserves credit for spreading the attack and keeping the opposition blockers guessing.

What it means

The straight-sets win gives Politechnika Lublin a valuable boost in the TAURON Liga table and reinforces their home form. Gdansk will need to address their reception consistency before their next match, as the scoreline reflects a clear gap in first-contact quality. For Lublin, the challenge is to reproduce this level of control on the road.
