Politechnika Lublin claimed a convincing 3-0 road victory over Kedzierzyn-Kozle in TAURON Liga action on Sunday night, winning 25-22, 25-19, 25-21. The visitors were sharper in the key phases of each set, combining aggressive serving with a well-organised block and a balanced attack that kept the hosts guessing throughout the evening.

Match overview

Kedzierzyn-Kozle started with energy and kept the first set competitive deep into the twenties, but Politechnika Lublin found another gear when it mattered. From the second set onward, the visitors controlled the tempo, limiting the hosts’ options at the net and converting defensive chances into quick transition points.

The sweep was built on consistency rather than one explosive stretch. Lublin’s serve-receive held up under pressure, the setter distributed the ball well across the front row, and the block-defence connection improved with each set. Kedzierzyn-Kozle had spells of good volleyball, especially at the start of the third set, but could not string enough clean points together to change the match’s direction.

Set-by-set breakdown

First set: The hosts came out with intent, using the home crowd to fuel an aggressive approach from the service line. The set remained tight through the middle before Politechnika Lublin edged ahead with a timely block and a pair of strong serves. Kedzierzyn-Kozle fought off one set point, but Lublin closed it 25-22.

Second set: Lublin took early control and never let it slip. The visitors’ block began to read the host attack, forcing Kedzierzyn-Kozle into off-speed shots and out-of-system swings. A mid-set run opened a comfortable gap, and Lublin finished the set strongly at 25-19.

Third set: Kedzierzyn-Kozle produced its best response, leading briefly and keeping the score close into the teens. Lublin, however, stayed composed and reclaimed the initiative with a decisive serving run. The visitors’ defence held firm in the closing rallies, and a final transition kill completed the 25-21 win and the 3-0 sweep.

Tactical story

Politechnika Lublin’s serving strategy was central to the result. The visitors targeted the seams and mixed pace effectively, making it difficult for Kedzierzyn-Kozle to run a fluid first-tempo attack. With the hosts pushed into more predictable wing attacks, Lublin’s blockers were able to set up earlier and close the angle at the net.

The visitors also won the battle of transition. Lublin’s back-row defence absorbed several heavy swings, and the counter-attack was quick and decisive. Kedzierzyn-Kozle, by contrast, too often found itself scrambling after a poor first contact, and the resulting high balls allowed Lublin’s defence to reset.

Standout performers

Lublin’s opposite hitter delivered a steady scoring output and came up with important points whenever Kedzierzyn-Kozle threatened to build momentum. The visiting libero was excellent in reception and defence, giving the setter the platform to run a varied offence. In the middle, Lublin’s blockers controlled the net and forced the hosts into several rushed attacks.

For Kedzierzyn-Kozle, the outside hitters showed fight and produced some of the team’s best moments, particularly in the first and third sets. The home libero also made a number of fine defensive plays, but the hosts lacked the serving pressure needed to disrupt Lublin’s rhythm for long enough.

What it means for the TAURON Liga table

The 3-0 victory gives Politechnika Lublin a strong three-point result on the road and reinforces its credentials as a side capable of controlling matches away from home. The clean sweep is also a boost for confidence in close sets, where the visitors showed maturity in the final phases.

Kedzierzyn-Kozle will take some encouragement from the competitive spells in the first and third sets, but the hosts must improve their reception consistency and side-out efficiency to turn tight sets into wins. In a TAURON Liga season where home form and set differential can shape the standings, this result could prove valuable for Lublin as the campaign progresses.
