Mckis Jaworzno edged AZS Poznan 3-2 in a tense TAURON I. Liga match, turning a back-and-forth contest into a valuable home victory. The five-set result gave the Jaworzno side the momentum of a hard-earned win and left AZS Poznan with the frustration of a narrow away defeat in a competition where every point can matter in the standings.

Match overview

The match was a classic example of TAURON I. Liga volleyball: long rallies, heavy serving pressure and momentum that shifted repeatedly. Mckis Jaworzno started with energy from the home crowd, but AZS Poznan stayed composed and kept the contest balanced through the middle sets. Neither team was able to establish a lasting advantage, and the fixture moved into a deciding fifth set with both benches fully engaged.

What separated the teams in the end was Mckis Jaworzno’s ability to score at the most important moments. The hosts were not always the cleaner side, but they found timely blocks, disciplined defence and a few crucial serves that forced Poznan out of system. The final 3-2 scoreline reflected the closeness of the contest and rewarded Jaworzno’s persistence.

Key moments

• Mckis Jaworzno used an early serving run to settle into the match and keep the home crowd involved.
• AZS Poznan responded with a stronger block in the middle stages, slowing down Jaworzno’s outside attack and keeping the match level.
• The fourth set became a turning point, with the hosts improving their side-out consistency and forcing a decisive fifth set.
• In the tie-break, Mckis Jaworzno held their nerve in the closing rallies, converting their best chances while Poznan’s final attempts fell short.

Tactical story

Jaworzno’s game plan relied on aggressive serving to disrupt AZS Poznan’s reception and limit the visitors’ ability to run their middle attack. When the serve landed, the hosts were able to set up their block and defend around it. When Poznan passed well, the match became much more difficult for Jaworzno, which is why the contest remained so tight across five sets.

AZS Poznan’s best spells came when their setter could involve multiple attackers and keep the Jaworzno block guessing. Their block also created problems in transition, especially during the middle sets. However, Poznan’s error count rose in the decisive phases, and Jaworzno’s defence around the back court made the difference in the final set.

Standout performers

Mckis Jaworzno’s opposite hitter carried a heavy scoring load and was especially effective in the closing set. The home libero also had a strong match, keeping rallies alive with important defensive reads. Jaworzno’s setter managed the offence well under pressure, distributing the ball to the pins when the middle was closed down.

For AZS Poznan, the outside hitters produced several important points and kept the team in contention through the middle sets. The visitors’ blocking unit had encouraging moments, but Poznan could not maintain that pressure consistently enough in the fifth set.

Season impact

The 3-2 victory gives Mckis Jaworzno a strong boost in the TAURON I. Liga standings and reinforces their ability to win close matches at home. For AZS Poznan, the defeat is a narrow one, but dropping a five-setter after competing so well will feel like a missed opportunity. Both teams will take lessons from the match as the season progresses, with Jaworzno able to build on their late-set composure and Poznan looking to improve their execution in decisive moments.
