• Set 1: JTEKT 25-22 Toray Arrows

• Set 3: JTEKT 25-21 Toray Arrows
• Set 4: JTEKT 25-20 Toray Arrows

Key moments

The second set was the most tightly contested passage of the match, with both teams trading points deep into the set. Toray’s ability to score from the left pin helped them edge it 25-23 and level the match. JTEKT’s response in the third set was crucial. The home side increased its service pressure and forced Toray into a series of predictable attacks, which the block was able to contain. Late in the fourth set, JTEKT produced a decisive run of points behind strong serving and a couple of transition kills to seal the victory.

Tactical story

JTEKT’s win was built on serve pressure and defensive discipline. The home side served aggressively enough to disrupt Toray’s first-tempo game, especially in the third and fourth sets, and its block followed the setter well. Toray Arrows were at their best in the second set, when their passing allowed the setter to involve the middle and create one-on-one opportunities for the pins. However, they struggled to maintain that rhythm once JTEKT raised its serving level. JTEKT’s setter also managed the match well, spreading the attack and keeping Toray’s block guessing in the closing stages.

Standout performers

JTEKT’s opposite hitter delivered important points in each of the final two sets, while the middle blocker was a consistent presence at the net with blocks and quick attacks. The libero also played a key role in keeping the home side’s reception stable under pressure. Toray Arrows’ outside hitter had a strong second set and remained a threat throughout, but the visitors lacked the same attacking balance when JTEKT tightened its serve and block.

Table impact and next steps

The four-set win gives JTEKT valuable momentum in the SV.League standings and reinforces their ability to respond after losing a close set. Toray Arrows will be disappointed to have let the match slip after levelling at 1-1, but there were enough positive signs in their attacking play to suggest they can bounce back quickly. Both teams now turn their attention to their next fixtures, with JTEKT looking to build on a solid home performance and Toray aiming for greater consistency in serve receive.
