Panasonic Panthers earned a 3-1 road victory over Hokkaido Yellow Stars in SV.League action on 25 October 2026. After dropping the opening set, the Panthers responded with three consecutive set wins, closing the match 25-22, 20-25, 21-25 and 18-25 from the home side’s perspective.

Match overview

Hokkaido made the brighter start, taking the first set 25-22 with a lively attacking display and strong support from the home crowd. Panasonic, however, settled quickly. The Panthers raised their serving pressure in the second set, won it 25-20, and then took control of the match with a 25-21 third-set victory.

The fourth set followed a similar pattern, with Panasonic’s block and transition game creating separation. Hokkaido fought to stay within reach, but the Panthers closed the set 25-18 to complete a convincing comeback victory.

Key moments

• Hokkaido’s first-set win gave them early momentum, with their outside attack finding space against Panasonic’s block.
• Panasonic’s response in the second set was built on tougher serving and better defensive positioning.
• The third set was competitive until the middle phase, when Panasonic produced a decisive run through block and transition.
• In the fourth set, Panasonic’s error control and composure in long rallies helped them pull away late.

Tactical story

Panasonic’s victory was shaped by their ability to adapt after the first set. They increased the aggression of their serve, making it harder for Hokkaido to run a fluent offence. As Hokkaido’s first-contact quality dropped, Panasonic’s block was able to set up more effectively and their defence converted those stops into transition points.

Hokkaido remained dangerous when they managed clean reception, and their attacking variety caused problems in the opening set. But Panasonic’s serve-receive stability and composure in the closing stages of sets proved decisive. The Panthers also managed the scoreboard well, avoiding the kind of extended runs against them that could have shifted momentum back to the home side.

Standout performers

Panasonic’s opposite hitter provided a reliable terminal option, particularly in the third and fourth sets, while their middle blockers made important contributions at the net. The team’s libero also helped stabilize the back court during Hokkaido’s stronger attacking phases. For Hokkaido, the outside hitters showed flashes of quality and the home side’s block had good moments, but they could not maintain the same level of pressure after the first set.

Standings impact

The 3-1 win is an important early-season result for Panasonic Panthers in the SV.League table, demonstrating their ability to recover from a slow start on the road. For Hokkaido Yellow Stars, the defeat is a missed opportunity after a strong opening set, but the performance offered positives in attack and at the net. Panasonic will look to build on their serving and block improvements, while Hokkaido will focus on sustaining their first-set level across the full match.
