How the match unfolded

Sremska M. Women made the stronger start, keeping Beograd W under pressure with deep serves and a well-organised block. The first set remained close until the hosts created separation late in the frame, closing it out at 25-21. Beograd W responded well in the second set, raising their attacking tempo and forcing Sremska M. into a series of difficult defensive transitions. That response levelled the match and briefly changed the momentum.

The third set proved decisive. Sremska M. Women restored control through more consistent first-contact play and a sharper block-defence relationship, pulling away to take it 25-18. Beograd W attempted to force a fifth set in the fourth, but the home side stayed calm in the closing points, managed the side-out phase effectively and finished the match at 25-20.

Tactical story

The key tactical difference was Sremska M.’s ability to turn serving pressure into defensive opportunities. Their servers targeted the seams and forced Beograd W into predictable attacks, allowing the home blockers to set up earlier. In transition, Sremska M. looked the more balanced team, mixing power from the pins with quicker attacks through the middle. Beograd W had encouraging spells, especially in the second set, but they were unable to sustain that level once the home side tightened its reception and reduced unforced errors.

Standout performers

Sremska M.’s opposite hitter provided an important scoring outlet in the big moments, while the middle blockers gave the team a strong presence at the net. The libero also played a key role, stabilising the back court and helping the hosts survive Beograd W’s best serving runs. For Beograd W, the outside hitters carried much of the attacking load, but the team’s challenge was keeping consistency across all four sets.

What it means

The win gives Sremska M. Women three important points in the Superliga Women standings and adds momentum to their home form. Beograd W will take positives from a competitive second set, but the result highlights the need for greater stability in serve-receive and side-out play. For Sremska M., the 3-1 victory is a useful marker of both their resilience and their ability to close matches under pressure.
