Kastela Women claimed a convincing 3-0 away win over Rijeka Women in the Superliga Women on October 17, 2026. The visitors won 25-21, 25-18 and 25-20, producing a controlled performance that combined strong serving with efficient attacking and solid defensive coverage.

Rijeka Women stayed competitive in the opening and closing sets, but Kastela’s ability to raise their level in the middle of each frame made the difference. The straight-sets result gives Kastela Women an important road victory and leaves Rijeka searching for greater consistency.

Match Overview

The first set was closely fought early on, with both teams exchanging points and testing each other from the service line. Kastela gradually gained the upper hand through better first-tempo attacks and a few crucial blocks. Rijeka kept the set within reach, but Kastela closed it 25-21 with a composed finish.

Kastela were dominant in the second set. Their serving created problems for Rijeka’s reception, and the visitors’ block controlled the net. A series of scoring runs allowed Kastela to build a comfortable lead, and they took the set 25-18. Rijeka responded with more energy in the third, staying close for much of the frame, but Kastela’s attacking depth and calm in transition secured the set 25-20 and the match.

Key Moments

• First-set finish: Kastela won the key rallies late in the opening set to take a 1-0 lead.
• Second-set serving run: The visitors’ pressure from the service line broke Rijeka’s rhythm and opened a decisive gap.
• Third-set composure: Rijeka threatened to extend the match, but Kastela’s side-out game held firm down the stretch.

Tactical Story

Kastela Women’s performance was built on balance. They served with enough aggression to disrupt Rijeka’s attacking patterns without giving away too many free points, and their block-defense connection was strong throughout. The setter distributed the ball well, keeping the middle involved and creating one-on-one opportunities for the outside hitters.

Rijeka Women had their moments, especially when their block managed to slow down Kastela’s attack. However, they struggled to sustain pressure from the service line and often found themselves defending against organized transition plays. Improving reception consistency will be a priority, as it limited Rijeka’s ability to use their full attacking range.

Standout Performers

Kastela’s outside hitters delivered a steady stream of points, particularly in the second set when the visitors pulled away. The middle blockers contributed important blocks and transition kills, while the libero provided stability in the backcourt. The setter’s decision-making was a key factor in Kastela’s ability to control the tempo.

For Rijeka Women, the third-set effort was a positive. Their attackers showed determination, and the team’s defensive effort improved as the match progressed. The home side will need to build on that response in the next fixture.

Season Impact

The 3-0 victory gives Kastela Women a valuable away result in the Superliga Women and strengthens their position in the standings. Winning on the road in straight sets is a clear sign of quality, and the team’s balanced attacking display will be encouraging for the rest of the campaign.

Rijeka Women will take lessons from the match, particularly in serve receive and end-of-set execution. The Superliga Women season offers little time to dwell on results, and Rijeka’s response in the coming rounds will be important. For Kastela, the challenge is to maintain this level and turn strong away performances into a consistent run.
