The win lifts Rijeka's early-season momentum and gives them a valuable straight-sets result in the Superliga Women.

Both clubs represent coastal cities with proud volleyball traditions, and the match had a lively atmosphere. Dubrovnik will be disappointed not to have taken a set, especially after a competitive first-set effort, but they were outplayed in the key moments.

Key Moments

The second set turned on a serving run from Rijeka's captain, who delivered three consecutive aces to turn a 12-11 lead into a 15-11 advantage. The third set was the most competitive, with Dubrovnik taking a 12-10 lead after a strong blocking sequence. Rijeka then steadied through their opposite hitter, who scored four points in a 9-3 run that sealed the victory.

Tactical Story

Rijeka's game plan revolved around pressure from the service line and a compact block. They served aggressively to Dubrovnik's deep corners, forcing the visitors to play out of system. Rijeka's middle blockers read Dubrovnik's setter well, often committing early and closing the angle for the outside hitters. In attack, Rijeka mixed power with placement, keeping Dubrovnik's defense off balance. Dubrovnik's best moments came when they managed to pass perfectly and involve their middle attacker, but those moments were too infrequent.

Standout Players

The Rijeka opposite hitter led all scorers with 17 points, including four blocks. The team captain and setter was influential with her serving run in the second set and finished with 30 assists. The Rijeka libero also had a strong match, anchoring the defense. For Dubrovnik, the outside hitter scored 12 points and the middle blocker contributed three blocks, but the team's passing inconsistencies limited their impact.

League Impact

This 3-0 result gives Rijeka Women a full three points and a positive set difference in the Superliga Women table. It also maintains their strong home form early in the season. Dubrovnik Women will need to improve their reception and transition offense if they are to climb the standings. The two coastal rivals will meet again later in the season, and Dubrovnik will be eager to produce a better performance in front of their home fans.
