Match overview

Nebo took a tight opening set, but ZOK Osijek answered immediately with a strong second-set performance. The third set was the match’s turning point: Nebo saved their best attacking volleyball for the closing points and edged it 25-23. Osijek responded again in the fourth, forcing a decider with a dominant stretch of serving and blocking. The fifth set remained close until the final few rallies, when Nebo converted their opportunities and Osijek’s errors crept in.

Key moments

• Third-set finish: Nebo won the crucial points at 23-23 to take a 2-1 lead and seize the momentum.
• Osijek’s fourth-set response: ZOK Osijek produced their most complete set of the match, extending the contest to a decider.
• Deciding-set composure: Nebo stayed calm at 12-12 and closed with three straight points, sealing the win 15-12.

Tactical story

Both teams relied heavily on their outside hitters, but Nebo’s ability to vary the attack through the middle in the decisive moments proved important. Their setter kept Osijek’s block guessing, and the home side’s serve-receive held up better under pressure in the fifth set. Osijek were excellent for long stretches, particularly when their serve disrupted Nebo’s reception, but they could not reproduce that pressure in the final rallies. Nebo’s block also came up with key touches late in the match, turning would-be Osijek points into counter-attacking opportunities.

Standout performers

Nebo’s outside hitter carried a heavy load and delivered several important points in the deciding set. Their middle blocker was influential in the third and fifth sets, while the libero made a series of crucial defensive plays. For ZOK Osijek, the opposite hitter was a constant threat, and the team’s serving runs in the second and fourth sets kept them in contention. The visitors will rue a few missed opportunities in the closing stages.

Season impact

The five-set win gives Nebo Women a valuable two points in the Superliga Women standings and a confidence boost after a demanding contest. For ZOK Osijek Women, the narrow defeat still brings a point from a match in which they competed strongly for long periods. Both teams showed why they are capable of troubling opponents in the Croatian women’s top flight, and the result leaves Nebo with momentum heading into the next round.
