Kastela Women cruise past Dubrovnik Women in straight sets

Kastela Women secured a convincing 3-0 home victory over Dubrovnik Women in Superliga Women action on 24 October 2026, winning 25-20, 25-17, 25-19. The home side controlled the match from start to finish, using a strong net presence and efficient transition play to keep Dubrovnik at arm’s length.

The result was built on consistency rather than a single dominant spell. Kastela defended their home court well, limited unforced errors and gradually wore down a Dubrovnik side that competed early but struggled to sustain its attacking pressure as the match progressed.

Match overview

The first set was the most competitive, with Dubrovnik staying close through the opening exchanges. Kastela slowly established control through better serving and a tighter block, taking the set 25-20. The second set was a different story: Kastela raced ahead, forced Dubrovnik into rushed attacks and closed it comfortably. Dubrovnik improved in the third set and stayed within touching distance for a while, but Kastela’s serving and transition game again created the separation needed to finish the sweep.

Key moments

• Late first-set surge: Kastela broke away from a tight set with a run of strong serves and a decisive block.
• Second-set dominance: The home side’s defensive coverage and quick transition attack turned a small lead into a commanding advantage.
• Third-set response: Dubrovnik briefly threatened a comeback, but Kastela steadied with back-to-back points in the closing phase.

Tactical story

Kastela’s blocking and floor defence worked together effectively. Their front line did not need to score every block outright; instead, the block funnelled Dubrovnik’s attacks into predictable areas, allowing the back court to set up counter-attacks. Kastela’s setter also did well to involve the middle attackers, keeping Dubrovnik’s block moving and opening space on the wings. Dubrovnik’s best periods came when their serve disrupted Kastela’s reception, but they could not maintain that pressure for long enough to swing a set.

Standout performers

Kastela’s opposite hitter delivered a consistent scoring threat, particularly in the second set, while the middle blocker made an impact on both sides of the ball. The home libero was reliable in serve-receive and helped extend rallies that often ended in Kastela’s favour. Dubrovnik’s captain and outside hitters showed fight, especially in the first and third sets, but the team lacked the attacking depth to keep pace.

Season impact

The win gives Kastela Women a valuable home result in the Superliga Women standings and reinforces their ability to close out matches efficiently. For Dubrovnik Women, the straight-sets defeat is a reminder of the level required to compete consistently on the road in the Croatian top division. Kastela will look to carry the momentum into their next fixture, while Dubrovnik will focus on improving their serve-receive consistency and side-out efficiency.
