How the match turned

The second set was Gimnazijalac Women’s best chance to change the momentum. They stayed close for much of the set and forced Albatros Women into some longer rallies. But at 22-22, the visitors produced three straight points, including a block and a service winner, to take a 2-0 lead. That finish deflated the home side, and Albatros Women carried the momentum into the third set.

From there, Albatros Women controlled proceedings. Their serving kept Gimnazijalac Women out of system, and their block closed down the home side’s main attacking routes. The visitors never looked in danger of surrendering the advantage.

Tactical story

Albatros Women’s serving strategy was central to their success. They mixed deep serves with short placements, making it difficult for Gimnazijalac Women to establish a consistent attack. When the home side did manage to side-out, Albatros Women responded with quick transitions and effective use of the middle.

Defensively, Albatros Women were well organised. Their block forced Gimnazijalac Women into difficult angles, and their back-row players covered the court effectively. Gimnazijalac Women had some success when they managed to get their outside hitters into rhythm, but those moments were too infrequent to threaten the visitors.

Standout performers

Albatros Women opposite Ana Jovanović led the match with 20 points, delivering key kills in each set. Middle blocker Jelena Marković added five blocks and gave the visitors a strong presence at the net, while setter Ivana Đurić kept the attack balanced.

Gimnazijalac Women captain Milica Petrović was the home side’s top scorer with 12 points. Outside hitter Nevena Ilić also showed flashes of quality, but the team struggled to maintain consistency under pressure.

What it means for the Superliga Women table

The 3-0 win strengthens Albatros Women’s position in the Superliga Women standings and gives them confidence heading into their next match. Gimnazijalac Women will need to improve their serve-receive and reduce errors if they are to compete with the stronger teams in the division. The home side showed enough in the second set to suggest they can be competitive, but they will need a more complete performance in their next outing. Albatros Women, meanwhile, will look to build on a disciplined and efficient away display.
