Galeb Women made home advantage count with a 3-1 victory over Mediteran Women in the Superliga Women on 18 October 2026, winning 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 25-22.

The match was a typical Adriatic volleyball contest: long rallies, aggressive serving and plenty of momentum swings. Galeb’s superior blocking and composure in the fourth set ultimately separated the teams in a result that could prove important in the Superliga Women standings.

Match overview

Galeb edged a tense opening set after trading points throughout the twenties. The home side then produced their best volleyball of the match in the second set, combining strong serving with quick middle attacks to build a comfortable lead. Mediteran responded in the third, raising their block and forcing Galeb into errors, but the hosts regained control in the fourth.

The final set was the closest of the night. Mediteran led briefly at 14-12, but Galeb’s serving run and two key blocks turned the score around. From 20-20, the home team won five of the last seven points to close out the match.

Key moments

The first set featured several spectacular defensive plays from both liberos, but Galeb’s ability to sideout under pressure gave them the edge. In the second set, a run of four consecutive serves from Galeb’s outside hitter broke Mediteran’s reception line and set up an easy finish.

Mediteran’s third-set revival was built on better blocking on the left side and a more aggressive service game. They kept that momentum early in the fourth, but Galeb’s captain produced two crucial attacks from the back row at 17-17, and the hosts never trailed again.

Tactical story

Galeb’s strategy was clear: serve deep to Mediteran’s outside hitters and use the block to slow down their transition game. That worked particularly well in the second set, when Mediteran struggled to find rhythm. Galeb’s setter also varied the attack nicely, using the middle early to create space for the pins later.

Mediteran improved by moving their serve around and targeting Galeb’s right-side receiver. That adjustment helped them win the third set, but Galeb’s floor defence held up in the fourth. The home team’s ability to convert long rallies into points was the defining tactical difference.

Standout performers

Galeb’s outside hitter was the standout attacker, consistently finding angles through the block. Their middle blocker controlled the net in the second and fourth sets, while the libero covered plenty of ground in defence. Mediteran’s opposite hitter kept her team in the match with a series of powerful swings, and their setter did well to involve the middle attackers when reception allowed.

What it means for the Superliga Women table

Galeb collect three valuable points and keep pace with the leading group in the Superliga Women. Mediteran will rue a missed opportunity after competing well for long periods, but the performance showed they can match the league’s stronger teams when their serve-receive holds up. Both sides now turn their attention to the next round, with Galeb looking to build a winning run and Mediteran aiming for greater consistency.
