Match overview

The first set set the tone for a tight contest, with both teams trading points late before Zeleznicar edged it 25-23. Crvena zvezda responded well in the second, building a lead and holding off a late charge to level the match. Zeleznicar regained control in the third set with a strong mid-set run, then carried that momentum into the fourth, where they pulled away in the closing stages.

Key moments

• First set, 23-23: Zeleznicar won the decisive two rallies through a well-placed serve and a transition kill, taking the opener 25-23.
• Second set, 20-17: Crvena zvezda found their best attacking rhythm of the match, closing the set 25-21 to level the score.
• Fourth set, 15-15: Zeleznicar produced a 6-1 run that broke the hosts’ resistance and set up the 25-19 finish.

Tactical story

Zeleznicar’s serving was the defining weapon. The visitors targeted the seams and forced Crvena zvezda into uncomfortable attacking positions, which allowed their block to set up more effectively. Crvena zvezda’s best period came when they passed well enough to use the middle and create space on the outside. But as the match wore on, Zeleznicar’s defensive structure held firm, and their transition game became increasingly efficient.

Standout performers

Zeleznicar’s outside hitter was central to the win, scoring important points in the first set and leading the fourth-set surge. Their middle blocker also made a strong contribution at the net, disrupting Crvena zvezda’s attack in the key moments. For Crvena zvezda, the middle blocker and libero were the most consistent performers, but the team needed more from the outside attack in the final two sets.

Standings impact

The three points are valuable for Zeleznicar Women in the Superliga Women table and give them bragging rights in a fiercely contested fixture. Crvena zvezda Women remain capable of competing with the league’s stronger sides, but this defeat highlights the importance of sustaining serve-receive quality under pressure. Both teams now turn their attention to the next round, with Zeleznicar looking to build momentum and Crvena zvezda seeking a quick response.
