Ulcinj 0-3 Budvanska Rivijera: Visitors Impress in Superliga Sweep

Budvanska Rivijera claimed a convincing 3-0 away win over Ulcinj in Montenegro's Superliga on 24 October 2026. The visitors were the sharper team throughout, denying Ulcinj a single set in a performance built on serving, blocking and composure in the decisive points.

Match Overview

Budvanska Rivijera, one of the most recognisable names in Montenegrin volleyball thanks to its long association with the Adriatic resort town of Budva, showed exactly why they are a difficult opponent on any floor. Against Ulcinj, they combined experience with efficiency, controlling the tempo of each set and keeping the hosts at arm's length.

For Ulcinj, the evening was a frustrating one. The home side found flashes of attacking quality but could not sustain pressure, and the visitors capitalised on every dip in concentration.

Key Moments

• First set: Budvanska Rivijera set the tone with aggressive serving and a well-organised block, taking an early lead.
• Second set: Ulcinj pushed closer but lost the crucial points at the end of the set, a recurring issue on the night.
• Third set: The visitors maintained their intensity and finished the match without drama.

Tactical Story

The match was decided in the serve-receive battle. Budvanska Rivijera's serves kept Ulcinj away from the net and forced the hosts into uncomfortable attacking positions. When Ulcinj did manage to construct an attack, the visitors' block was well positioned to neutralise it.

In transition, Budvanska Rivijera were composed and efficient. Their setter varied the offence well, involving the middle attack enough to keep Ulcinj's block honest and opening space for the outside hitters.

Standout Performers

The Budvanska Rivijera block was the standout feature of the match, repeatedly turning Ulcinj's attacks back. Their service pressure and defensive coverage combined to make the team greater than the sum of its parts.

Ulcinj's best contributions came from individual defensive efforts, but the hosts will need to raise their level in reception and terminating the ball if they are to climb the Superliga table.

Season Impact

An away win in straight sets is a valuable currency in the Superliga, boosting both the points tally and the set-difference figures that can shape final standings. Budvanska Rivijera leave with maximum reward, while Ulcinj face a period of reflection before their next outing.
