CSKA Sofia produced a commanding capital derby performance on 23 October 2026, sweeping Slaviya Sofia 3-0 in the Bulgarian SuperLiga. The visitors controlled the match from the opening serve and never allowed Slaviya to settle into a consistent attacking rhythm.

Match overview

The contest finished in straight sets, with CSKA Sofia delivering a performance built on serve pressure, strong blocking and efficient transition play. Slaviya Sofia competed in patches, particularly in the second set, but could not match the visitors’ consistency over the full duration of the match.

CSKA’s dominance was reflected in the scoreline and in the flow of the sets. The visitors took the opening set with authority, resisted Slaviya’s best response in the second, and then closed the match with a composed third set that underlined their superiority on the night.

Key moments

• CSKA’s early serving run in the first set immediately put Slaviya under pressure and set the tone for the match.
• Slaviya’s most competitive phase came in the second set, but CSKA answered with a decisive block-and-counter sequence.
• A series of strong defensive plays from the visitors drained the hosts’ momentum at the end of the second set.
• In the third set, CSKA moved ahead early and never allowed Slaviya to close the gap.

Tactical story

The derby was decided by CSKA Sofia’s control of the first contact. Their serve consistently tested Slaviya’s reception, forcing the home side into high-risk attacks and predictable side-out options. With the block well organised, CSKA were able to convert defensive pressure into quick transition points.

Slaviya attempted to change the tempo with substitutions and a more aggressive approach at the net, but CSKA’s floor defence held firm. The visitors also managed the match intelligently, avoiding unnecessary errors when ahead and keeping Slaviya at arm’s length in the key scoring runs.

Standout performers

CSKA’s opposite hitter Borislav Apostolov delivered a strong scoring performance, while setter Ivan Hristov kept the offence balanced and unpredictable. The visitors’ middle blockers also made a major impact with their work at the net. Slaviya’s Petar Dimitrov fought hard for the hosts, but his effort was not enough to shift the overall direction of the match.

Season impact

The straight-sets win strengthens CSKA Sofia’s position and confidence in the SuperLiga race, while Slaviya Sofia are left to regroup after a difficult derby. Results like this carry extra weight in a capital rivalry, and CSKA will take both the points and the psychological boost from a clean sweep on the road.
