Mladi Radnik defeated Ribnica 3-1 in the Superliga on 25 October 2026, recovering from a second-set setback to take control of the match and secure a valuable home victory.

The result was built on a strong response after a difficult second set. Mladi Radnik showed composure and attacking depth, while Ribnica’s resistance faded as the match wore on. The home side’s ability to raise their level in the third and fourth sets made the difference in a competitive Superliga fixture.

Match overview

Mladi Radnik took the opening set 25-21, using a solid side-out game and a few timely blocks to edge ahead. Ribnica responded well in the second, improving their serve and finding more space in the attack, and they levelled the match with a 25-22 win. That proved to be the visitors’ high point. Mladi Radnik restored order in the third with a 25-18 scoreline and closed out the match 25-20 in the fourth.

Across the four sets, Mladi Radnik had more variety in attack and better control at the net. Ribnica competed well in patches, especially when their serve put the home reception under pressure, but they could not maintain that level. The home team’s ability to reset after the second-set loss was one of the key stories of the match.

Key moments

• Opening-set edge: Mladi Radnik broke a close first set with a late block and a transition kill to take it 25-21.
• Ribnica’s response: The visitors served more aggressively in the second set and levelled the match with a 25-22 win.
• Third-set separation: Mladi Radnik started the third strongly and never let Ribnica back into the set, winning 25-18.
• Fourth-set finish: The hosts held off a brief Ribnica challenge and closed the match with a composed 25-20 set win.

Tactical story

Mladi Radnik’s attacking balance was the foundation of the win. The home side distributed the ball well, keeping Ribnica’s block guessing and creating opportunities for both the middle and the wings. When the first tempo was available, Mladi Radnik looked especially dangerous, forcing the visitors’ defense to react rather than read.

Ribnica’s best period came in the second set, when their serve disrupted Mladi Radnik’s reception and allowed their block to set up more effectively. The problem was sustainability. Once Mladi Radnik adjusted their passing angles and slowed the tempo slightly, Ribnica struggled to generate the same pressure. In the third and fourth sets, the home team’s block began to take over, and Ribnica’s attacking errors increased.

Standout performers

Mladi Radnik’s outside hitters carried much of the scoring load, especially in the third and fourth sets when the home side needed to reassert control. The setter managed the offense well, consistently finding the right matchup and keeping Ribnica’s block moving. The team’s middle blockers also contributed important points in transition, helping Mladi Radnik pull away.

For Ribnica, the second-set performance showed what the team is capable of when their serve lands and their defense holds. The libero was busy throughout and kept several rallies alive, while the front line produced some encouraging blocks. Still, the visitors lacked the attacking consistency to stay with Mladi Radnik over four sets.

Season impact

The 3-1 win gives Mladi Radnik three important Superliga points and reinforces their home-court strength. Winning after dropping a set is a useful sign of maturity, and the team’s ability to adjust tactically will be important as the season progresses. The result also improves their position in the Superliga standings and adds momentum to their next fixture.

Ribnica will leave disappointed but with clear areas to work on. Their second-set display proved they can trouble good teams, but they need more consistency in reception and attack execution. In a competitive Superliga, turning promising spells into full sets is the next step.
