Neftohimic Burgas delivered one of the more controlled road performances of the Bulgarian SuperLiga round on 23 October 2026, defeating Deya Volley 3-1 in a match that grew steadily away from the hosts after a competitive opening. The visitors won the key tactical battles at the service line and at the net, turning a tight early exchange into a deserved four-set victory.

Match overview

Deya Volley began with energy and used the home crowd to stay close in the early phase, but Neftohimic Burgas gradually imposed their rhythm. The match finished 3-1 in Burgas’s favour, with the visitors taking the decisive moments in the third and fourth sets after Deya had briefly restored parity.

The set pattern underlined the visitors’ composure: Burgas took the opener, Deya responded with a stronger attacking spell, and Burgas then reasserted control with two increasingly comfortable sets. From Deya’s perspective, the match was a case of promising passages that were not sustained long enough against a side that punished errors.

Key moments

• Burgas’s serving pressure in the opening set created early separation and forced Deya into predictable attack patterns.
• Deya’s best stretch came in the second set, when their outside hitters found space and the home block began to score points.
• A long rally midway through the third set ended with a Burgas block, a moment that visibly shifted momentum back to the visitors.
• In the fourth set, Burgas broke away with a sustained run of points and closed the match without allowing Deya to build another comeback.

Tactical story

Neftohimic Burgas were the more disciplined side in transition. Their serve was not merely aggressive; it was targeted, disrupting Deya’s first contact and limiting the home team’s ability to involve the middle attackers. That allowed the Burgas block to set up more comfortably and gave their defence clearer reads.

Deya Volley showed fight in the second set by increasing their tempo and attacking with greater variety, but the consistency of Burgas’s side-out game proved decisive. Whenever Deya threatened to string points together, the visitors found a steady reply through their opposite hitter or a well-timed block.

Standout performers

Martin Pavlov led the Burgas attack with a composed all-round display, while Dimitar Ivanov added important points in the big moments. Todor Kanev’s work at the net was especially valuable, with his blocking presence shaping several key rallies. For Deya, Georgi Petrov carried much of the attacking load and kept the hosts alive during their strongest spell.

Season impact

The win gives Neftohimic Burgas valuable momentum in the SuperLiga table and reinforces their ability to win on the road against direct rivals. For Deya Volley, the result is a reminder that they must turn short bursts of quality into longer stretches of pressure if they are to climb the standings. The home side left the court with positives, but Burgas left with the points.
