The final set scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-19 and 25-21. The result strengthens Metar’s standing in the Superleague Women table and hands Minchanka a difficult away defeat despite a competitive spell in the middle of the match.

Match Overview

Metar Chelyabinsk started the match with purpose, taking the first set 25-20 through aggressive serving and efficient attacking from the wings. Minchanka responded well in the second set, tightening its defense and capitalizing on a brief dip in Metar’s reception to level the match.

But the home side reasserted itself after the interval. Metar’s block improved, and the team’s setter began to find more one-on-one opportunities for the outside hitters. The third and fourth sets followed a similar pattern: Metar built mid-set leads and closed them out without allowing Minchanka to mount a late comeback.

• Set 2: Minchanka Women 25-22
• Set 3: Metar Chelyabinsk Women 25-19
• Set 4: Metar Chelyabinsk Women 25-21

Key Moments

The third set was the decisive stretch. With the match level at 1-1, Metar produced its best volleyball of the evening, combining strong serving with disciplined block defense. A run of four consecutive points midway through the set gave the hosts a cushion they never surrendered.

Minchanka threatened briefly in the fourth set, cutting the deficit to two points at 18-16, but Metar answered with a timely block and a sharp back-row attack. From there, the home side maintained its advantage and sealed the win on its second match point.

Tactical Story

Metar’s serving strategy was effective throughout. The home team targeted Minchanka’s left-side reception and forced the visitors into more predictable attacking patterns. Metar’s block then had time to set up, limiting Minchanka’s options at the net.

Minchanka’s best moments came when its setter used the middle attack to stretch Metar’s defense. But the visitors could not sustain that approach consistently, especially in the third and fourth sets. Metar’s floor defense also improved as the match progressed, keeping rallies alive and turning defense into transition points.

Standout Players

Anna Smirnova paced Metar Chelyabinsk with 21 points, delivering consistently from the outside and coming up with several important kills in the third set. Elena Kuznetsova led Minchanka with 18 points, while Metar’s captain and libero helped stabilize the team’s reception under pressure.

Standings Impact

The 3-1 win gives Metar Chelyabinsk Women three points in the Superleague Women standings and adds momentum to their season. Minchanka Women leave empty-handed but showed enough fight to suggest they can compete in tighter matches. The result also improves Metar’s head-to-head position in the race for a higher playoff seeding.
