Dynamo Moscow Women edged Odintsovo Women in a five-set Superleague Women thriller on October 17, 2026, winning 3-2 after a tense tie-break. The match swung repeatedly, with Odintsovo twice fighting back to level the contest before Dynamo Moscow found the decisive points late in the fifth set to take two points from a hard-fought victory.

Match overview

This was a contest defined by momentum shifts and pressure serving. Dynamo Moscow started strongly and looked capable of taking control, but Odintsovo responded with character and forced the match into a deciding set. The home side’s experience in the biggest rallies ultimately made the difference, though Odintsovo deserved credit for taking the match to the limit and claiming a point of their own in defeat.

Set-by-set

• First set – Dynamo Moscow 25-22: Moscow controlled the early exchanges with a solid block and efficient side-out play, holding off a late Odintsovo push to take the opener.
• Second set – Odintsovo 25-22: Odintsovo raised its serving pressure and found more success through the middle, levelling the match as Moscow’s reception became less stable.
• Third set – Dynamo Moscow 25-19: The home side reasserted control with a strong run in the middle of the set. Moscow’s defence transitioned well, turning several Odintsovo attacks into counter-attacking points.
• Fourth set – Odintsovo 25-20: Odintsovo refused to fade, using aggressive serves and brave attacking to force a decider. Moscow struggled to contain the visitors’ outside hitters in the closing stages.
• Fifth set – Dynamo Moscow 15-12: The tie-break was tight until the final few rallies. Moscow’s block produced the key stop, and a composed finish sealed the win.

Tactical story

The match was a battle of serve and reception. Odintsovo’s best spells came when they were able to disrupt Dynamo Moscow’s first contact, forcing the home setter to work with less comfortable options. In those moments, Odintsovo’s block was able to load up on the pin attackers and slow Moscow’s scoring rhythm.

Dynamo Moscow’s response was to vary the serve and use the middle more actively, especially in the third and fifth sets. The home side’s block-defence system improved as the match wore on, and their ability to win the long rallies in the closing stages proved decisive. Odintsovo’s fighting spirit kept the match alive, but Moscow had the edge in execution when the tie-break reached its critical points.

Standout performers

Dynamo Moscow’s captain led by example in the decisive moments, delivering important kills and helping to steady the side after the fourth-set setback. The middle blockers also made a significant impact with timely blocks, particularly in the fifth set. For Odintsovo, the outside hitters carried much of the attacking load and kept the visitors in contention with a series of brave swings under pressure.

Table impact

The 3-2 victory gives Dynamo Moscow two points, while Odintsovo take one from the defeat. In a league where close matches can shape the final standings, both teams will view the encounter as a valuable test of character. Moscow will be pleased with the result but will want to reduce the dips that allowed Odintsovo back into the match, while Odintsovo can take confidence from pushing a strong side all the way.
