Stolychna claimed a 3-1 home victory over Novator Khmelnitsky in the Superleague on 25 October 2026, producing a composed performance in a match that was competitive early before the hosts took control in the closing stages. The set scores were 25-22, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-19.

Match overview

Stolychna opened with purpose, using aggressive serving to keep Novator Khmelnitsky away from a comfortable attacking rhythm. The visitors responded well in the second set, tightening their reception and finding more success through the opposite hitter, but the home side restored order after the interval. From the third set onward, Stolychna’s block-defense system and efficient side-out volleyball made the difference.

The result gives Stolychna an important three points in the Superleague standings and strengthens their position in the upper half of the table. For Novator Khmelnitsky, the away defeat leaves them searching for consistency in the head-to-head series and in the broader league campaign.

Set-by-set

• First set – 25-22 Stolychna: The hosts edged a tight opening frame with stronger serving down the stretch.
• Second set – 23-25 Novator: Novator improved their reception and levelled the match with a patient attacking display.
• Third set – 25-20 Stolychna: Stolychna reasserted control through blocks and quick transitions.
• Fourth set – 25-19 Stolychna: The home side closed the match confidently, limiting Novator’s scoring runs.

Tactical story

Stolychna’s biggest advantage came at the service line. By targeting Novator’s outside hitters and forcing predictable first-ball attacks, the hosts were able to set their block early and convert defensive touches into transition points. Stolychna’s middle blockers also made a significant impact, closing the angle on several key rallies in the third and fourth sets.

Novator Khmelnitsky had their moments, particularly in the second set, when their setter distributed the ball well and created one-on-one opportunities for the pins. However, they struggled to sustain that quality after the break. Unforced errors in transition and a lower first-ball kill rate allowed Stolychna to build separation.

Standout players

Stolychna’s attack was led by a strong performance from the opposite position, with the home side’s leading scorer carrying much of the load in the decisive sets. The captain’s serving run in the third set proved especially important, while the libero’s defensive coverage helped Stolychna survive several long rallies.

For Novator, the main positive was the fight shown in the second set. Their top scorer kept the visitors in contention, but the team’s overall attacking efficiency dropped as Stolychna’s block began to read the play more effectively.

Season impact

With the 3-1 win, Stolychna add three valuable points to their Superleague total and maintain momentum in the race for a strong league position. The result also improves their recent head-to-head record against Novator Khmelnitsky. Novator, meanwhile, will need to address their reception consistency and late-set execution before their next fixture.
