How the sets unfolded

The first set set the tone for a competitive evening, with both teams trading blows from the service line. Reshetylivka held a narrow advantage late on and closed the frame with a well-executed side-out. The second set was more one-sided: the hosts raised their blocking intensity and forced Novator into a series of difficult attacking situations, building a lead they never surrendered. Novator’s response in the third was impressive. They improved their reception, varied their attacking zones and took advantage of a brief drop in Reshetylivka’s efficiency to win the set 25-21. The fourth set, however, belonged to the hosts, who regained their serving rhythm and pulled away in the middle stages before finishing strongly.

Tactical story

Reshetylivka’s success came from a balanced attack and disciplined block defence. Their setter kept the offence unpredictable, involving the middle blockers regularly and creating space for the outside hitters. The home side’s serving was also a key weapon, particularly in the second and fourth sets, where Novator’s first-pass quality dropped and their attack became easier to read. Novator’s best spell came when they slowed the game down and used combination plays, but they struggled to maintain that level under pressure. Reshetylivka’s floor defence and transition game ultimately made the difference in the decisive rallies.

Standout players

Reshetylivka’s opposite hitter led the team with 18 points, delivering several important kills in the first and fourth sets. Their middle blocker was a constant threat at the net, contributing six blocks and forcing Novator to adjust their attacking angles. The libero also played a crucial role with steady reception and a number of impressive defensive digs. For Novator, the outside hitter top-scored with 16 points and fought hard throughout, while their setter deserves credit for keeping the team competitive during the third-set victory.

Standings and season impact

The win gives Reshetylivka valuable momentum in the Superleague and strengthens their standing among the league’s competitive pack. For Novator Khmelnitsky, the defeat highlights the importance of consistency in a demanding schedule. The head-to-head record now favours Reshetylivka, and both teams will turn their attention to their next league fixtures with clear areas to build on and improve.
