Montana made a strong statement in the Bulgaria Cup with a clinical 3–0 away victory over Slaviya Sofia on December 4, 2019. The visitors dominated proceedings from start to finish, showcasing their class in every element of the game and booking their place in the next round with a fully controlled performance.

How Montana took control

Montana arrived in the capital with confidence, and it showed from the first point. Their serving game immediately put Slaviya on the defensive, limiting the home side’s attacking options and forcing errors at crucial moments. The blockers behind that strong serve were equally effective, producing a series of kills that broke Slaviya’s rhythm.

Slaviya Sofia fought to stay in the match, but Montana’s consistency in side-out play and their ability to convert break points proved too much. The away side never allowed the score to become close in any of the three sets, sealing a swift 3–0 finish and preserving energy for the challenges ahead.

Tactical superiority

• Serve and defense: Montana’s aggressive service run kept Slaviya’s attackers out of system.
• First-tempo attacking: The middle blockers for Montana repeatedly scored from quick sets, keeping the home defense guessing.
• Calm under pressure: Whenever Slaviya threatened to build a small run, Montana found a timely side-out to reset the flow.

What the result means

For Montana, the 3–0 victory served as a clear message to the rest of the Bulgaria Cup field: they are ready to compete with the top teams in the country. Their balanced performance in all sets highlighted their depth and tactical maturity.

For Slaviya Sofia, the defeat was a tough end to their cup run, but facing a side of Montana’s caliber provided useful lessons for their league campaign. On the night, though, there was no question who the better team was—Montana left the Bulgarian capital with a perfect away win.
