Super Cup Women: Scandicci Women Open With a Strong 3-1 Win Over Numia Vero Volley Milano

Scandicci Women made a positive start to their Super Cup Women campaign on September 3, 2020, defeating Numia Vero Volley Milano Women 3-1. The result came after a hard-fought match that showcased both teams’ ambition at the beginning of a new season. Although the scoreline suggested a clear win for Scandicci, the match itself was tightly contested in several phases, with Milano pushing their opponents throughout.

Scandicci entered the match with a balanced lineup and quickly found their rhythm in the opening set. Their first-touch efficiency allowed the setters to distribute the ball well, creating one-on-one situations for the hitters and forcing Milano into difficult defensive positions. The home side took an early lead, but Milano responded with increased energy and leveled the match by winning the second set.

Scandicci’s Response After the Milano Pushback

Following Milano’s set victory, Scandicci showed the composure that defines a title contender. They made key adjustments in their blocking structure, closing the middle more effectively and forcing Milano’s outside hitters into tougher angles. The serving game also improved, with Scandicci targeting specific passing zones and earning a series of valuable free balls.

That tactical shift turned the match back in their favor. Scandicci regained control in the third set with a combination of powerful swings and disciplined defense, then continued the momentum into the fourth set. Milano continued to fight, but Scandicci’s confidence was now rolling, and they closed out the match without allowing another set.

Early-Season Momentum for Scandicci

The 3-1 victory was an important first step for Scandicci in the Super Cup Women. It gave the team immediate confidence and demonstrated the depth of its roster, as contributions came from multiple players in all key phases of the game. For Numia Vero Volley Milano, the loss was not without positives: they showed flashes of real quality and pushed a strong opponent to the limit, which could serve them well in the matches ahead.

Results like this reinforce why the Super Cup is so valuable — it offers meaningful competition right from the start and helps teams identify their strengths and weaknesses early. On this occasion, Scandicci did exactly what a contender should do: they took the challenge, adapted, and finished the job.
