ZAKSA’s Tactical Mastery

ZAKSA came out with a clear plan: aggressive serving aimed at disrupting Skra’s reception and quick combinations through the middle. The tactic paid immediate dividends, as ZAKSA raced through the opening exchanges with sharp variation and high attacking efficiency. Bełchatów struggled to find an answer to the visitor’s serve-and-block system, especially in the first and third sets.

Skra showed their championship character by winning a tight second set, using their powerful outside hitters to claw back momentum. However, ZAKSA’s ability to stabilize behind a strong reception and run their fast offense proved decisive. In the closing stages of the fourth set, the visitors pulled away with a series of well-taken blocks and ended the match with a display of clinical finishing.

Turning Point

The real turning point came midway through the third set. After dropping the second set, ZAKSA adjusted their defensive formation, giving their setter more options in transition. That shift swung the momentum decisively, and Skra never fully recovered.

What It Means

For ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, the Super Cup victory was a perfect start to the 2020–21 campaign and a signal that they intended to challenge on every front. For Bełchatów, the defeat served as a reminder of the fine margins at the top of Polish volleyball, as well as a motivation to sharpen their serve-receive under pressure.
