Zeren Spor Women edged a five-set thriller against Manisa BB Women in the Sultanlar Ligi Women, winning 3-2 on the road after surrendering the opening set. The visitors' depth and composure in the closing stages proved decisive in a match that swung repeatedly.

Momentum Swings

Manisa BB started the stronger of the two teams, using home advantage and a loud crowd to take the opener 25-22 with some sharp attacking from the wings. Zeren Spor answered immediately, tightening their block and levelling the match with a 25-21 second set.

The third set was the most competitive of the night, and Manisa edged it 25-23 to move within a set of victory. But instead of closing out the match, the hosts lost their grip on the serve-reception battle, and Zeren dominated the fourth set 25-20 to force a decider.

In the tie-break, the visitors' experience told. Zeren Spor took an early two-point lead and never gave it back, finishing 15-12 to complete a comeback that had looked unlikely after the third set.

Tactical Analysis

Zeren's adjustment after the third set was the turning point. They increased their service risk and targeted Manisa's left-side receivers, forcing the home setter into long runs of predictable attacking. The visitors also rotated their blocking assignments to close the line shot that had hurt them earlier.

Manisa's decline was gradual rather than sudden: rallies that had ended with a clean kill in the first three sets began ending with errors or weak free balls. The hosts' bench rotation also struggled to maintain the team's attacking tempo across five sets.

Standout Performers

Zeren's opposite hitter produced a high-volume, high-efficiency scoring performance across the five sets and was the outstanding individual on the court. Their middle blocker added crucial blocks in the fourth set and tie-break. For Manisa, the outside hitters combined well in the first and third sets, and the libero produced several spectacular defensive plays that kept the hosts alive.

Season Impact

This is the sort of away win that shapes a season. Zeren Spor leave Manisa with two hard-earned points in a five-set format and clear evidence of their resilience. Manisa BB, who earned one point for taking the match to a decider, will be frustrated: the team played well enough to win but could not manage the final twenty minutes.

In a congested Sultanlar Ligi Women table, five-set defeats like this often prove costly at the end of the campaign, and Manisa will want to convert similar performances into victories in their upcoming home fixtures.
