VKP Bratislava Women cruised into the next round of the Slovakia Cup with a commanding 3-0 win over Brusno Women (25-15, 25-18, 25-20) on Wednesday evening.

Match Overview

Bratislava were in control from the opening point, racing to a 10-3 lead in the first set and never looking back. Brusno improved in the second set, briefly matching their opponents point-for-point until 12-12, but Bratislava’s superior attacking depth allowed them to pull away. The third set followed a similar pattern, with Bratislava closing out the match in clinical fashion.

Key Moments

The second set was the most competitive, and the turning point came at 14-14 when Bratislava outside hitter Lucia Michalíková delivered back-to-back aces to spark a 6-1 run. That burst broke Brusno’s resistance, and Bratislava comfortably sealed the set. In the third set, a powerful block from middle blocker Nikola Radosová gave the hosts a 20-15 lead, effectively ending any hope of a comeback.

Tactical Story

Bratislava’s serving strategy was key, as they targeted Brusno’s weaker passers and recorded eight aces. Their block was also dominant, with Radosová and fellow middle blocker Michaela Abrhámová combining for seven blocks. Brusno struggled to establish their middle attack and were forced into predictable outside swings that Bratislava’s defense handled with ease.

Standout Players

Michalíková led all scorers with 17 points, including four aces, while Radosová added 12 points and four blocks. Setter Eva Koseková orchestrated the offense efficiently. For Brusno, captain Petra Hrušovská fought hard with 10 points, but she lacked consistent support.

Cup Context

The victory sees VKP Bratislava Women advance to the next round of the Slovakia Cup, where they will face tougher opposition. Their dominant performance sends a warning to other contenders, while Brusno Women will look to regroup in league play.
