Padova Women won a dramatic five-set road match in Serie A2 Women on 25 October 2026, defeating Sigel Marsala W 3-2. The final set scores were 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 21-25 and 13-15, with Padova recovering from a 2-1 deficit to take the decider 15-13.

Match overview

Marsala made the stronger start, taking the first set 25-22 behind a solid block and a patient attacking approach. Padova responded in the second set, edging it 25-23 after a tense closing sequence. Marsala regained the advantage with a 25-20 third-set win, but Padova’s response in the fourth set changed the momentum of the match.

After taking the fourth set 25-21, Padova carried that confidence into the tie-break. The deciding set was tight throughout, but the visitors found the decisive points late to complete a notable comeback.

Key moments

• Marsala’s first-set win gave them early control, with their block creating problems for Padova’s outside attack.
• Padova’s second-set finish at 25-23 proved important, preventing Marsala from building a two-set lead.
• Trailing 2-1, Padova raised their serving intensity in the fourth set and forced Marsala into longer, less comfortable rallies.
• In the fifth set, Padova held their nerve at 13-13 and scored the final two points to seal the match.

Tactical story

The match turned on Padova’s ability to survive Marsala’s best blocking periods. Early on, Marsala’s net defence slowed Padova’s attack and gave the home side confidence. As the match progressed, Padova adjusted by using more varied angles and quicker sets to the middle, pulling Marsala’s block out of position.

Padova’s serving also became more aggressive in the fourth and fifth sets. They took more risks from the service line, and while that approach produced some errors, it also disrupted Marsala’s first contact at the most important stage of the match. In the tie-break, Padova’s composure in transition made the difference.

Standout performers

Padova’s opposite hitter delivered crucial points in the closing sets, while their setter kept the offence unpredictable during the comeback. The visitors’ libero was also central to the win, stabilizing reception and extending rallies in the fourth and fifth sets. For Marsala, the middle blockers had strong moments and the outside hitters carried much of the scoring load, but the home side could not find the same late-match efficiency as Padova.

Standings impact

The 3-2 victory is a significant result for Padova Women in the Serie A2 Women table, especially because it came away from home against a direct competitor. For Sigel Marsala W, the defeat is a frustrating one after leading 2-1, and it highlights the importance of closing out tight sets. Padova will take confidence from their five-set resilience, while Marsala will look to correct their late-game execution in the next round.
