Scandicci Women secured a convincing 3-0 home win over Firenze Women in Serie A1 Women on 18 October 2026, winning 25-18, 25-20, 25-16. The hosts were sharper in every phase of the match, combining a strong serve with an organised block and a balanced attack that kept Firenze under pressure from the opening set.

Match overview

Scandicci started brightly and quickly established a lead in the first set. Their serving game asked questions of Firenze’s reception, and the home side’s block was well positioned to deal with the resulting attacks. A 25-18 opening set gave Scandicci confidence, and they carried that momentum into the second. Firenze improved in defence and managed to stay closer for longer, but Scandicci’s attacking depth allowed them to pull away late for 25-20.

The third set was Scandicci’s most complete. They controlled the tempo, limited unforced errors, and gave Firenze few opportunities to build any rhythm. The hosts closed the match 25-16, completing a straight-sets victory that underlined their quality in front of their own supporters.

Key moments

• First set: Scandicci’s serve created a mid-set break, and their block followed up with key stops to take control.
• Second set: Firenze briefly threatened, but Scandicci’s outside hitters found answers in the closing points.
• Third set: The home side dominated from early on and never allowed Firenze to close the gap.

Tactical story

Scandicci’s victory was built on serve-receive superiority. They kept Firenze away from the middle and forced the visitors into more predictable wing attacks, which made the block’s job easier. Scandicci’s setter used the full width of the court, involving the middles often enough to keep Firenze’s defence honest. Firenze had some success when they managed to extend rallies, but too many points ended early because of reception errors or blocked attacks. The home side also managed the match well after taking the first set, avoiding the kind of dip that can let an opponent back into a Serie A1 Women fixture.

Standout performers

Scandicci’s opposite hitter produced a steady stream of points, especially when the team needed to break away in the second set. The middle blockers were effective both offensively and at the net, while the libero helped maintain a high side-out rate. Firenze’s best moments came through their outside hitters, who tried to attack around the block and keep rallies alive. However, the visitors lacked the same consistency in serve-receive and could not match Scandicci’s efficiency in transition.

Season impact

The 3-0 win gives Scandicci Women a strong home result in the Serie A1 Women standings and reinforces their credentials as a side capable of controlling matches against domestic opposition. For Firenze Women, the defeat is a reminder that first-contact consistency must improve against teams with aggressive serving. The result also gives Scandicci momentum heading into their next fixtures, while Firenze will focus on reducing errors and finding more balance in attack.
