The set scores, from Scandicci’s perspective, were 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 12-15. The result handed Chieri two valuable standings points and left Scandicci with one after a match that swung repeatedly.

Played at Scandicci’s home court in front of a lively crowd, the contest lived up to the billing between two ambitious clubs. Scandicci showed flashes of elite attacking volleyball, but Chieri’s resilience in the clutch and their ability to win long rallies proved decisive in the final set.

Match Overview

Scandicci started the match with purpose, taking the opening set 25-22 behind strong serving and an efficient transition game. Chieri responded immediately in the second, tightening their reception and forcing Scandicci into predictable attacking patterns. The visitors took the second 25-22 to level the match.

The third set belonged to Scandicci again. Their block began to control the net, and a mid-set run gave them enough separation to close it out 25-20. But Chieri refused to fade. In the fourth, they saved their best defensive volleyball for the moments that mattered, edging the set 25-23 to force a decider.

The fifth set was tense, exactly as a Serie A1 Women matchup of this quality deserved. Scandicci led briefly, but Chieri’s serve pressure created chances in transition. A late block and a sharp back-row attack sealed the 15-12 win for the visitors.

Key Moments

• First set: Scandicci broke away at 18-15 and held their nerve to take it 25-22.
• Second set: Chieri improved their first-ball sideout and leveled the match with a 25-22 set win.
• Third set: Scandicci’s blocking presence returned, and a 5-1 run helped them claim the set 25-20.
• Fourth set: Chieri saved their best defense for the final points, winning 25-23 to send the match to a tiebreak.
• Fifth set: Chieri took control at 10-8 and closed it out 15-12 after a long rally ended with a transition kill.

Tactical Story

The tactical battle came down to serve and reception. Scandicci’s best stretches came when they served aggressively and kept Chieri out of system. When Chieri’s passing held, their setter was able to involve the middles and create one-on-one opportunities for the wings.

Chieri also made a clear adjustment after the third set, using more high hands at the net and directing attacks away from Scandicci’s strongest blocker. Scandicci, meanwhile, leaned heavily on their opposite hitter in the big moments, but Chieri’s floor defense repeatedly kept rallies alive.

Standout Players

Chieri’s opposite hitter was the emotional and statistical leader in the comeback, carrying a heavy attacking load in the fourth and fifth sets. Their libero also delivered a standout performance, stabilizing reception and extending several crucial rallies. For Scandicci, the outside hitters produced moments of brilliance, but the team could not sustain their efficiency after the third set.

Serie A1 Women Standings and Season Impact

With the 3-2 win, Chieri '76 Women collect two points in the Serie A1 Women standings, while Scandicci Women take one point from the loss. In a league where every point can shape playoff seeding, the extra point could prove important later in the season. The head-to-head result also gives Chieri a psychological edge in any future meeting.

For Scandicci, the match is a reminder that closing out elite opponents requires precision in the final rallies. For Chieri, the five-set road win is exactly the kind of result that builds belief for the long Serie A1 Women campaign ahead.
