Perugia Women vs Padova Women: Perugia Seal Straight-Sets Home Win

Perugia Women delivered a composed 3-0 home victory over Padova Women in Serie A2 Women on 18 October 2026, winning 25-19, 25-16 and 25-21. The result was built on efficient attacking, disciplined blocking and a strong serving performance that kept the visitors under pressure for much of the match.

Match overview

Perugia controlled the opening set from the middle stages, pulling away to 25-19. The second set was even more one-sided, with the hosts dominating at the net and limiting Padova’s options in attack on the way to a 25-16 success. Padova responded with more fight in the third set, but Perugia held their nerve in the closing points to take it 25-21 and complete the sweep.

The straight-sets win gave Perugia three points and a welcome boost in the Serie A2 Women standings. For Padova, the match highlighted the need for greater consistency in reception and side-out play against opponents who serve aggressively.

Key moments

• First set: Perugia used a mid-set run to break clear and closed out the opener 25-19.
• Second set: The hosts dominated the block and transition phases, racing to 25-16 and taking full control of the match.
• Third set: Padova improved and stayed close, but Perugia found the key points late to finish the job 25-21.

Tactical story

Perugia’s game plan revolved around service pressure and a well-organized block. The hosts consistently served into difficult areas, preventing Padova from running their preferred first-tempo attacks. That allowed Perugia’s blockers to set up early and force the visitors into higher-risk swings.

In attack, Perugia showed good variety. The setter used the middle effectively to keep Padova’s block honest, then opened space for the outside hitters. Padova’s defense produced some good moments, but the visitors were often stretched by Perugia’s tempo and struggled to string together enough points to seriously threaten the hosts.

Standout performers

Perugia’s opposite hitter provided a reliable scoring outlet, while the middle blockers made an impact on both sides of the ball. The home setter managed the rhythm well, and the serving unit consistently asked questions of Padova’s reception. For Padova, the middle blocker and libero were among the brightest performers, but the team as a whole could not match Perugia’s efficiency.

Serie A2 Women standings and season impact

The win is an important one for Perugia Women as they look to build momentum in the Serie A2 Women campaign. Three points from a straight-sets victory can be significant in a league where goal difference and set ratio often matter in the race for playoff positions.

Padova Women will take some positives from their third-set response, but the overall performance showed areas for improvement. The next round offers a chance to reset, while Perugia will aim to maintain their home form and keep climbing the table.
