Key moments

The fifth set was tight until the final third. Offanengo created a small lead with a block and a transition kill, then survived a Casalmaggiore surge that brought the visitors back within a point. A well-placed serve and a decisive attack from the right side gave Offanengo the breathing room they needed, and they closed out the match on their second opportunity.

Casalmaggiore’s best spell came in the fourth set, when their serve disrupted Offanengo’s reception and their block began to win direct points. That momentum briefly carried into the decider, but Offanengo’s composure in the biggest rallies proved decisive.

Tactical story

Offanengo’s victory was built on balance. Their setter kept the offense unpredictable, involving the middle blockers enough to keep Casalmaggiore’s block honest. When the home side needed a bailout point, the outside hitters delivered, especially in the first and third sets. Offanengo’s serving also improved in the fifth, reducing Casalmaggiore’s options and forcing a few critical free balls.

Casalmaggiore were at their best when they played through the middle and used quick attacks to stretch Offanengo’s defense. Their block was effective for long stretches, particularly in the second and fourth sets. The visitors’ challenge was consistency: just when they seemed to have control, Offanengo found a scoring run or a key defensive stop to shift the momentum back.

Standout performers

Offanengo’s opposite hitter produced several high-pressure points, including the closing stages of the fifth set. Their libero was also central to the win, keeping rallies alive with intelligent positioning and accurate passing. For Casalmaggiore, the outside hitter carried a heavy attacking load and kept the visitors in the match, while the middle blocker provided important resistance at the net.

Standings impact and next steps

Offanengo Women move forward with two points from the five-set win, while Casalmaggiore Women take one point from a performance that showed plenty of fight. In the Serie A2 Women standings, the difference between two and one point can be meaningful over a long season, especially in a division where home form is often decisive.

Offanengo will look to carry their fifth-set composure into their next match, while Casalmaggiore will focus on turning strong four-set stretches into complete performances. Both teams showed enough quality to suggest they will remain competitive in the coming rounds.
