Numia Vero Volley Milano Women produced a dominant performance in Serie A1 Women, sweeping UYBA Busto Arsizio Women 3-0 on October 24, 2026. The home side controlled the Lombardy derby from start to finish, combining efficient attacking with a well-organized block to secure a convincing straight-sets victory.

Match overview

Milano set the tone early with aggressive serving and a disciplined block. The home side forced Busto Arsizio into uncomfortable reception positions, limiting their ability to run the middle attack and allowing Milano’s defenders to read the play. The first set was wrapped up comfortably at 25-18.

Busto Arsizio improved in the second set and stayed competitive for longer stretches. Their outside hitters found more success, and the team’s serving began to create a few problems for Milano’s reception. However, the home side remained composed and pulled away late to take the set 25-20.

Key moments

The third set was the closest of the match. Busto Arsizio led briefly and looked capable of extending the contest, but Milano responded with a run of strong serves and transition points. The home side’s block came up with crucial stops in the middle of the set, and their opposite hitter delivered several important points down the stretch.

At 22-22, Milano found another gear. A sharp attack through the middle and a well-placed serve forced Busto Arsizio into a difficult reception, and the home side closed out the set 25-22 to complete the sweep. The final points underlined Milano’s composure in the key moments of an otherwise one-sided derby.

Tactical story

Milano’s victory was built on serve pressure and defensive organization. They consistently targeted Busto Arsizio’s reception lines, making it difficult for the visitors to involve their middle blockers. With the opponent’s offense becoming more predictable, Milano’s block was able to set up efficiently and force several counterattacking opportunities.

Busto Arsizio had their moments, particularly in the second and third sets, but they could not sustain the required level. Their serving was not consistent enough to disrupt Milano’s rhythm, and the team struggled to contain the home side’s main attacking options. The visitors also had difficulty converting their longer rallies into points.

Standout players

Milano’s opposite hitter led the way with a strong attacking performance, scoring from the right side and delivering key points in the third set. The setter controlled the game well, spreading the offense and keeping Busto Arsizio’s blockers guessing. The libero was excellent in defense, repeatedly keeping rallies alive and giving Milano the chance to counter.

For Busto Arsizio, the outside hitters battled hard and produced a few encouraging sequences, while the middle blocker made some important stops at the net. However, the team could not find enough consistency across the three sets to seriously threaten the home side.

Season impact

The straight-sets win strengthens Numia Vero Volley Milano Women’s position in the Serie A1 Women standings and sends a clear message about their title credentials. A derby victory of this kind is always valuable, and the clean performance will give the team confidence as they move deeper into the season.

For UYBA Busto Arsizio Women, the defeat highlights the gap they must close against the league’s top teams. The visitors showed resilience in the second and third sets, but they will need to improve their serve-receive and find more attacking variety if they are to compete consistently in Serie A1 Women.
