Ravenna vs Lagonegro: Lagonegro Rally to 3-1 Away Win

Lagonegro produced a determined away performance in Serie A2, coming from a set down to beat Ravenna 3-1 on 29 October 2026. Ravenna took the opening set 25-22, but Lagonegro responded with 25-21, 25-19, and 25-23 to secure a valuable road victory.

The match was a test of patience and adaptation. Ravenna started with energy and home support, but Lagonegro gradually imposed their serving and blocking game, turning the contest around after the first set.

Match Overview

Ravenna’s opening set was built on aggressive attacking and a strong start in front of their home crowd. The home side found success through the pins and kept Lagonegro under pressure with a high tempo. However, Lagonegro stabilized in the second set, improving their reception and finding more balance in attack.

From there, the visitors controlled the key phases. Lagonegro’s serve became more disruptive, and their block began to close down Ravenna’s preferred angles. The fourth set was the tightest of the match, but Lagonegro held their nerve in the final points to complete the comeback.

Key Moments

• First set, 20-18 Ravenna: The home side finished the set strongly, taking it 25-22 behind effective outside attacking.
• Second set, 15-15: Lagonegro created separation with a serving run and a pair of blocks, eventually leveling the match.
• Third set, 10-6 Lagonegro: The visitors built an early lead and maintained control through disciplined side-out play.
• Fourth set, 23-23: Lagonegro won the decisive rally and followed with a strong serve to close out the match.

Tactical Story

Lagonegro’s comeback was rooted in serve-receive improvement. After a shaky opening set, the visitors handled Ravenna’s serve more confidently and were able to run their middle attack. That, in turn, opened space for the pins and made Lagonegro’s offense far less predictable.

Ravenna’s challenge was sustaining their first-set intensity. As Lagonegro’s block improved, Ravenna’s attackers faced more difficult swings, and the home side’s error count rose in the middle sets. Ravenna fought back in the fourth, but Lagonegro’s composure in the closing rallies proved decisive.

Standout Performers

Lagonegro’s opposite hitter was central to the comeback, delivering important points when the match was still in the balance. The team’s middle blockers also grew into the contest, providing both blocking pressure and quick points through the center.

Ravenna’s outside hitters carried much of the early scoring load and kept the home side competitive in the fourth set. The libero also made several impressive defensive plays, but Ravenna could not consistently convert those moments into scoring runs.

League Impact

The 3-1 victory gives Lagonegro an important boost in the Serie A2 standings and underlines their ability to win on the road after dropping the first set. In a competitive league, away wins of this kind can be crucial when the table tightens later in the season.

For Ravenna, the match is a missed opportunity after a strong start. The home side showed enough quality to compete, but the inability to maintain serve-receive consistency across four sets allowed Lagonegro to take control and complete the comeback.
